dextrose is pretty much the fastest absorbing simple sugar there is, thus its use post workout.
It creates a large insulin spike, replenishing muscle glycogen, and shuttling nutrients into the muscles that you recently have torn down, setting the stage for recovery and anabolism.

I think they make it from corn starch. It pretty much the same as sucrose cane/beet sugar I think. Do a search on maltodextrin thats how it's normally sold.

Dextrose=Glucose. In order to replenish glycogen stores your body needs to store glucose. Rather than wasting the time to break down sugars into their base form of glucose you can simply save the time and create a greater insulin spike by consuming raw dextrose.

Maltodextrin is a synthetic long chain version of dextrose. It long chain length would suggest it is a complex carb however the bonds are very weak. So effectively it is a simple sugar. A lot of bros will tell you the carbs in a pwo shake should come from both dextrose/maltodextrin i.e 50:50.

A lot in sugar manufactured in the states comes from corn starch. Soft drink manufacturers use it instead of sucrose in the states as apposed to sucrose. (Which is used in Ireland)

Dextrose (also known as glucose) is a monosaccharide or simple sugar that is about 20% less sweet compared to cane sugar. It is derived entirely from corn, is low-cost, and contains no fructose or lactose.

Ooooook now I see what you are saying. I guess I read the previous posts too quickly. There is a big difference chemically between a starch and sugar.
I still wonder though if there would be any food allergies to corn sugar? I guess only a food allergist could answer that accurately probably.

All dextrose tastes the same...... it is pure sugar lol. You can mix it with protein and add extra water so it isn't too sweet, and it should taste great. It is my favorite protein drink of the day to be honest.

It is pretty d*mn orgasmic in a protein shake to be honest.
I throw in 16oz of water, two scoops of protein, and a little over half a cup of Dex and thats d*mn near as good as making love to Juggy (not quite as good but very very close).
If you want to seperate your shakes, just a have a protein shake and a dextrose shake (mostly when using insulin ) it tastes pretty good by itself also.
