    Competition Diet

I am working with a pretty well known nutritionist in Texas and during a 14 weeks diet (typical of competitions) protein, carbs etc... Week three he changes the diet to a 10 day mostly whey and soy protein drinks. Anyone ever heard of this? He has worked with many national comp and has worked with Coleman at metroflex and some others who have won nationals. He is known for his unorthodox style training. Just wanted some input thanks!

hmmm...well soy protein has been known for re-firing your thyroid and increasing the production of t3, although if someone does not have a thyroid problem then it wouldnt be necessary, although after running the same diet for an extended period of time it may be effective for a change like that to increase your metabolism.

I was thinking this was it - but also the next week is higher than normal protein intake. Possibly was this for cleansing purposes?

Just a shot in the dark here, but, I'd ask HIM!

    Thanks Smart ass

I did ask him and thats what his explanation was, but I wanted to see if others had used this type of dieting and how it worked for them if they have. I haven't read about bodybuilding diets this unorthodox, just a little nervous about it, and wanted some educated input

Maybe I didn't make sense, the high protein part would come after the cleansing.
