    Raw Eggs

Is there anything bad with eating raw eggs?

I can't be bothered to cook them so just downing raw whites.

What's the likely hood of getting salmonella?

Pretty good chance you will end up in the hospital, do your self a favor and buy the carton egg whites that are pasturized so there is no chance of poisoning. You can drink them all day long.

I've been eating them for the past 3 years and never ran into a problem. You are chancing getting salmonella, but what I have read on it, it is rare that you would get it. I wash my eggs before I break them open. I would buy the egg whites in the carton, but they are very expensive. It's up to you.

If you live in Texas you can spend $3/head and pick up as many chicks as you want Throw 'em in the back yard in a chicken coop, couple months later drop off a rooster...let 'em do there thing. Walmart (I think) sells this $9 "egg-white seperator"...worth its weight in gold.

J/K about the chicken thing...the neighbors complain

read somewhere that 1 in every 3000 eggs has salmonella. So the chances of getting sick are pretty small for the average person. However, the typical joe doesn't knock back a coupld of dozen eggs a day. So for a bodybuilder, all those raw eggs can quickly add up, and the chances of getting sick go up.

its actually 1 out every 20000. Plus you have to factor in if the egg was stored properly or not and for most of us the answer is yes. i think your chances of getting it are not as high as the govvernment says, they just like scaring the crap out of us.

The biggest risk is vitamin deficiencies if you are eating alot of raw egg , not infection.

I've had salmonella once, trust me, you don't want it.

You want to die, no kidding.

Be smart, buy pasteurized items or cook your eggs, the are more bio-available ANYWAY!!! Meaning you get more for your money when you cook them!

Don't eat them, Raw eggs contan avidin which binds biotin and prevents absorption. Biotin snythesizes fatty acids and glucose. NOT A GOOD IDEA TO EAT THEM.
