Right now I'm taking in 6oz of chicken or 1.5 cans of tuna and a 8oz yam.

from what I understand you should exclude veggies in PPWO. Gets you the better insulin response that you want for your first solid PWO.

The only moments during the day where you can afford yourself some higher glycemic food are directly before - or after your workout. After your workout insulin is your friend, as long as your not cutting, in improving protein synthesis. So you may go for the white rice.

    1) I'd never spike slin BEFORE a workout as you hinder the true spike PWO, and will experience lethargy if you do so before a workout.

    2) I use white rice in my PPWO meals when cutting and have no issues, and I prescribe my clients do the same thing. As long as the respective amounts are CORRECT for the goals outlined, there are no issues.

Thanks SC - I always like to hear your oppinions on diet!

Could anyone tell me why Spiking your slin levels AFTER a workout WHILST on a cutting diet is a bad thing ??

The reason why I ask is, even tho I am currently cutting, I still use 60g dextrose in my PWO shake with 30g prot, and also eat carbs PPWO. And, if this is going to be a bad thing whilst cutting, I would like to know why and I may stop. Providing it doesnt hinder my strength.

    thanks

Why would ingesting the proper nutrients for muscular recovery and the way in which one recovers from a weight training workout change because of cutting? You still want to aide repair and keep lean mass, right?

Adequate pwo protocols are needed probably even MORE while cutting than bulking to assure muscular recovery and prevent catabolism/muscle loss.

I've no idea who big'r is brutha, and w/two posts I've not read anything else that he has to offer/say, so I'm not sure how familiar he is w/this subject or how experienced he is in the world of fitness. From what I've read though, he's missing a lot of understanding about timing, amounts, etc.

Not a flame on him, but I can assure you that what I told you is 100% correct because I do it, all my clients do it, and the majority of the guys on here leaning out and getting cut up do the same thing as well. You are fine doing what you have set out to do.

Actually I agree to this totally, but when i bring up simple carbs ppwo (on the dutch board i'm at) i always get muchos negative reactions and endless discussions.

No bro, go ahead. Protein synthesis is increased after your training. It will reach 50% higher values 4 hours after workout and will peak 100% above basal values 24 hours post workout. So eating a little more post workout seems to be a better choice than the pre workout. Even while cutting.

Cannot find the thumbs up smiley. Totally agree bro.

About the insulin story: What i meant to say was that an insulin boost pre/post workout will increase protein AND glycogen synthesis. But when i bring up the words high glycemic and insulin post workout whilst cutting in the Netherlands everybody freaks out.
So sorry about the misunderstanding i brought up.
