    why not fat/protein/carbs meals

Usually for breakfast I have almond butter with my oatmeal and egg whites. I hear a lot of people say don't combine fats and carbs and I'm not sure why?

I dont' really understand either. My GF is a registered dietician and seems to strongly believe this is a myth and hotly debated issue. I on the other hand have gained knowledge from trial and error, and what is posted here at AR.com... therefor, I don't really know if there is a definate answer, but I'd love to hear others imput on the matter.

Well I have been doing it for breakfast for about 4 months. If I have steak for my first lunch with rice that would also been considered a proten/carb/fat meal also. I don't think its been issue for me staying around the 5% bf range. Although we are always looking for ways to get better so thats why I was asking.

The biggest problem is with combining fat and high GI carbs. High GI carbs cause a sudden insulin spike which influences fat storage instead of usage

Generally you don't want to combine fats and carbs do to putting two fuel sources into your body at once, causing your body to use one for fuel and storing the other. I'm not gonna get into it but that's that simple theory behind it.

combining fats/carbs is fine as long as the carbs are high quality low GI carbs and the fats are UnSaturate EFA's otherwise combining high GI Carbs w/ Sat Fats can have a synergetic affect on blood sugar.

I have gotten a lot mixed responses on this from bbers I know. They pretty much contradict everything everyone is saying. My first meal is creme of rice, egg whites, 2 tbsp. of almond butter. Been doing this for about 3m now so I'm not sure.

fat, carb combo is debatable with diff. people there are a lot of things that can play into why and why not, a lot depends on metabolism, what your DEE is RMR and all that tech BS, but if you are staying at 5% BF with eating like that then I think you answered your own question.

I mean its only one meal if you don't include steak as a fat.

For some reason, I tend to digest food much easier when consuming meals with fat, protein, and carbohydrates. Like steak and rice and salmon and rice, I actually feel my stomach emptying a lot quicker, but on the other hand, maybe the fats in the meal goes directly into adipose tissue while the protein and carbs are being digested more effficiently? I have no clue only time will tell.

I only need one fuel source at a time, not two.
