while i saw this another thing that bothers me is jared....how the heck did he lose all that weight eating two sub way sandwhiches a day does ne1 know where to find the rest of his diet ...did he really eat two a day or once a week ...i mean im not a fan of that crazy hippy who made supersize me that was just extreme and have michael moore exadderations all over it but fast food is not really good nor deadly for you IMO.how the heck can sum1 lose this much weight with fast foods..one of the things she had in the morning is a breakfast burrito????? WHAT!!!????

not much exaggeration in "super size me", he ate 3 meals a day of mcdonalds for 30 days. the results are as shown. if he was lying that would be fraud and he could be sued for liable.

jared's diet is on the internet, i've seen it, the 2 sandwiches are a part of it.

i understand what he did but, like michael moore's crap, the points are twisted....yes doing what he did almost killed him but you could eat mcdonalds three times a day and not be close to death...it wouldnt be good but it wouldnt be deadly or make you put on the obnoxious amount of fat he did....he just ate everything on the menu including the crap that your supposed to have like once a week as a treat..like shakes and what not....and the american public ate it up so mcodnalds got rid of the supersizing and added all these fruit dishes and what not.....

Dude she was eating 1,400 cals per day. that's basically starving yourself, considering it said she worked contruction....Jared did the same thing, if you weight half a ton and eat 1,000 cals per day you gonna drop weight like mad....Lets see that fat ass take off his shirt though....all he did was go from really fat to skinny fat....But somehow this guy is an inspiration to people....sends the wrong message IMO!

What was far more interesting about that movies was not the fact that he proved McDonalds was bad for you, but it was the social comentary and his investigation into other issues...Such as school lunches, now there was something that really pissed me off cause all these poor kinds get 45min per week of gym class and are stuffed with coke and pizza during lunch....Also his observation of the american obesity epedemic was very insightful as well, IMO...He just stated what peopel already know McDonalds is bad for you, but guess what take a look around and you still see people ordering away (including me on a cheat day) It's amazing how everone knows the food is shit and yet they still take the fam for Sunday dinner.

yeah they mightve lost weight..but id love to see how they look without a t-shirt on.......
2nd..even if they did lose weight that doesnt mean its healthy...people lose weight on chemical diets , fruit only diets , no-fat diets , etc...... doesnt mean that they are healthy.....
I feel sorry for those people...not getting enough vitamins , minerals , fiber , healthy fats , enough protein etc.....Id love to see how they end up in 10-20 years and what kind of health problems they will face.....

bottom line is: those diets suck....let them eat like that....its not our bodies we're poisoning....

Dude I agree with what you are saying but since you haven't seen the movie you are not entirely aware of the point he makes...He questions the fact the schools surround these "children" with candy, slupees, coke all available for purchase...And the school official tells him that they promote the fact that they want to let these "kids" make their own choices about food....It was really disgusting the way the head of the school lunch program handled it...You think kids are able to make healthy choiced when they are offered candy and sweets I mean come on, these schools are setting these kids up for failure, you just can't do that and expect that these kids know about macro breakdowns....Unfortunately corporate america run thsi country and they would be and have been very angry when schools lash out and ban soda machines from schools. The movies also amkes another great point the junk food industry spends billions a year advertising to kids while ads paid for by the govt has a budget of about 10 million a year, who's gonna win that battle??

We as adults are far better prepared to resist these tempations, allowing kids to eat junk all day at school is something that we should be able to prevent. Yes we do have to teach kids to resist but come on kids are kids, and they want sweets, thats no secret.

kids have liked sweets before the days of big advertising though thats not gonna change.....they dont hand sweets out at school you have to pay if sum1s kid is spending there allowance on junk then no more allowance until they no better

That is why my son already knows what fats/carbs/proteins are, what sugar is, why it's bad for you, etc.

Perhaps it's why he's 77 lbs. and is the tallest in his class by FAR!!!!! (KINDER!)

That what I guess my problem was, it really showed how the school system couldn't give a ****, somewhere in the back of my mind I guess I just wish that they would cause kids would be somuch better off.

you are all way off about school and the governemnt not caring about the kids. it's not that the school system could care less, it's the budget. for those not involved in the field of education i could see that it looks as if the school and government could care less. not true, all budget. like everyhting else in the world, the cafeterias have bids placed to service them and the lowest (cheapest) bid always wins, pure economics.

i made a suggestion to the director of an educational program for autistic kids to try and use healthier reinforcement foods for the children (i said granola instead of cookies for example). his response was those new reinforcers would bankrupt the budget in a few short months.

there's more to it than people not caring. and please don't say if they really cared they would find a way because that would mean all of us would have to have a tax increase to upgrade the school budgets of your area and my district is taxed enough!

and if you didn't see "Super Size Me" how can you give an opinion? it was nothing like a Micheal Moore documentary.

i admitted , numerous times in this thread, to not seeing it so i could not give a full opinion..i based what i said off my own readings about the film...when in the movie he shows a doctor telling him he is on the verge of dying and blames it on mcdonalds immediately i knew he was fabricating and further research said so because he ate stuff like shakes and things which you can do that with nething not just mcdonalds....and not just fast food......and i compared his exaggerations to michael moores extreme idiotic exaggerations and fact manipulations..i will have a better opinion after i see the movie which i plan on doing

Oh my God, sorry, but I hate that excuse.

I fail to see how subbing fruit for cookies, and LOWERING sodium/saturated fat contents of foods (preparing them differently) would require more money. Perhaps more PLANNING, yes, but not more money. Planning takes energy and care, and like I said, they don't care and are lazy, much like they are teaching kids to be in a roundabout manner regarding food/nutrition.

In addition, the vending machines that crowd the campuses full of junk shit can be taken out, and there can be fund-raisers that can be had that can match that income, and even exceed it.

The issue is, no one cares enough to do a d*mn thing about it. Society teaches kids to be lazy, indirectly that is, and no one directly teaches them how to break that cycle of laziness.

All I have to say is this:

We can sit here all day and "discuss" or "argue" (I prefer discuss) the reasoning behind shitty foods in the public school system.

The one thing that will NOT change, is the shitty food IN the public school system!

So, being a parent and caring about my son's longevity and health/growth/social life as he matures, I find it to be my job exclusively to teach him about nutrition, health, and what makes a body grow and stay healthy, what doesn't, etc. Sure my son gets to enjoy McDonalds, ice cream, etc., as I don't believe that ANY kid should be deprived of, well, "being a kid". However, those treats do NOT make up any significant majority of his nutritional intake, and with correct guiding/teaching/education, by his own choice they never will.

your right, things won't change but budget is not an excuse. hate it all you like food service falls behind class supplies, textbooks, salaries, medical support costs, in-school specialists, computers, audio visual, music, athletics, physical education class supplies, etc, etc..and i sure as hell won't ask a teacher to take a pay cut so some fat kid can have an apple and chicken for lunch and shit the rest of the day at home.

unless you work with your school district, are an active pta member, or possibly have an administrative role in your district you can say whatever you like but it's opinion and speculation. and yes, budget is the main reason. fruit and "healthy" foods cost an arm and a leg compared to processed garbage. and to follow that up, healthier foods usually cannot sit on the shelf of the school for weeks (like processed crap, anyone wanna estimate the cost of fresh fruit/vegetable delivery to a school 2 to 3 days a week? compare this to 1 delivery a month of processed crap, or maybe 2 a month depending on the size of the student body, staff, and administration, and you could see where budget becomes a real factor in decision making).

i think in new jersey they passed a bill (i think it's the only state to do so so far, not sure read about it at work) that will change the foods that can be served to the student body (i.e., no more soda/juice machines, only water; no more candy machines, etc.). i did also read a follow up to that bill that says there is major loop hole where schools can by pass this bill by having these machines working only before the start of the school day and immediately at final dismissal. seems like the bill will be ineffective but it's still a start.

and explain to me how schools who set up bidding wars for the cheapest cafeteria services make money from this? they don't, they pay the least amount to the lowest bidder, happens everywhere: office buildings, homes, military contracts, etc.. by paying less they are not earning money. remember a school is a single entity tied into the local and state government. they are not independent businesses where profits are made (with the excpetion of parochial/private schools). by paying less for the food supplies, they charge less, selling more shit making more money available to feed other budgetary needs. and the budgetary needs list in the 100's.

what pisses me off is that most parents think they do there kid harm if they will interfere and wont allow them to eat what they want. My sister is eactly like that with her kids. Lets them eat just about anything(not candy on weekdays though only weekends). When I ask her why the **** does she do that she just claims "they are growing they need the kalories". Well they sure as **** dont need the crap calories from sausage, processed ready to microwave meatballs and lots of other cheap shit. Her other argument is that they cant afford healthy food. Tuna is a hell of a lot cheaper then meatballs.
She doesnt care about macro's all she thinks about is to have something to fill the stomach with no matter what it is. But then again she is 24, diabetic since 3-4 years is 5¨4 and weights well over 220 pounds. I have totaly given up on trying to make her lose weight. But its a ****ing crime for her to teach those shitty eating habits to her kids. Makes my blood boil. They have a life of allergies, poor health and beeing teased for beeing a fat ass ahead of them.

Well said Swole.... my kids as well don't get junk food that much, maybe as an occasional treat. We eat out one or two nights a week as a treat as you said, letting kids be kids. But it's funny.... we were at a friends house and my kids ate all their supper and when it came time for dessert, ice cream and soda's were brought out but my 2 and 3 year olds opted for a couple of banana's and a glass of Ovaltine. It is up to us as parents to teahc our children, I never ate a school lunch a day in my life and neither will my kids.

He's just eating nutritionally sound foods the majority of the time, and yes, my parents fed me healthy food as well. I had junk from time to time, but I usually had healthy, well balanced, "growing boy" meals.
