How to take Flax Oil
Ive just bought two bottles of flax. The thing is, my previous flax that I use was in capsule form.
Can someone please give some ideas on how to take this ?? with me, its pretty easy, it can go in my shake or in my scrambled eggs or something. But, my wife is also going to use it cos she has recently became pregnant.
The thing is, I dont think she would swallow a spoonfull down each day!!
Any ideas appreciated

just "woman" up and take it rite off the spoon ...or mixing it in foods...

Congrats on the pregnancy!
I mix flax with my eggwhites in the a.m., mix it in shakes, mixes well with oatmeal too.

I either mix it in shakes or drink it out of the bottle.
if you make a sallad pour it over the sallad.

I drink mine straight out of the tablespoon, mixed in a shake, or mixed with tuna.

Flax is great for weight loss. I drink it straight from the bottle. If I take it after a meal I throw up every time. I's definately like engine oil. Now I chase it with hot tea. It thins it out while it's sliding down my throat. I think it's discusting, i could never mix it in my shakes or food, yuk.

Flax with ATW Banana is the bomb. Like a nutty banana shake. Sometime's I inject the flax IM as well. It really lets me feel those Omega's going to work!

I dont think it taste bad at all. Its not delicious but not disgusting either. I can drink quite alot from the bottle if I liked to.

Its like I said in the post, its not for me, I could use a spoon or drink it, then swill it down, or even use my shake with it, that doesnt bother me. The thing is, its for my wife Im asking. Theres no way she will have it off the spoon or on its own. Ive told her to use it on salad or in her tuna. But, because she can only have 1-2 servings of tuna per week (due to being pregnant and the high toxicity levels) thats not going to be too good. Also, I need to increase the ways in which she would take it because if its not made easy, she wont do it. And if she dont do it, then its not giving my baby the best healthy start - you see ??

yupp I read it thats why I sugested the sallad Why cant she drink it of a spoon? Explain to her the benifits for both herself and the baby and maby she will do it. would she endangre her kids health just because she cant stomach a spoon of flax?

ohh btw my last post made it sound like Im attacking her character. Didnt mean it in that way at all. Just curious to why she cant just swallow it?

She's gotta take 3 to 4 grams per day right? What I did with my sis some time ago is to buy a cheap ol' multitamine pack from the local pharmacy, get rid of the baby powder they had in the capsules and fill the jelatin caps with fish oil.
I managed to get one point something grams per cap if I remember correctly.
That's a bit crude though, at least that's what I thought when I found out optimum makes flaxseed capsules already

Yeah Daz just have her take Fish Oils, the gel caps and she should be fine. Get the 1000mg pills and have her take as many as needed. She Shouldn't need more than say 6-8 grams per day I wouldn't think! Can you get the capsules over there?

I have some, and use, the flax seed capsules. the thing is, the amount is closer to 15-20g per day of flax, or 1-2 tablespoons. So, the 1g caps I have would not last long!
As for the fish oils. the reason why I didnt buy EPA/DHA caps was because getting the omegas from fish isnt good, especially when pregnant - again due to the toxicity of the sea that gets into the fish (Mercury). This is known to cause birth defects

Im sure some of the omega 3 brands out there filtrates the stuff away. Im not sure how the process works though. But if you dig around I think you can find good brands. I would be more worried about pcp and ddt then mercury. Not that mercury is good either. Damn that everything is so poluted.
