    Whey Protein Question

Right now, I take Casein protein before I go to bed since it takes awhile to digest. Would it make sense to just take whey with a few tablespoons of flax oil instead of the Casein? The flax should slow down the digesting process of the whey I would think.

The reason I ask, Casein is twice as much money as whey is.

Stick withthe casien if you can, if all you can afford is whey than whey and flax is ok, but won't last as long as casien.

Does taking flax with whey protein, before bed, actually slow down its digestion rate?

Seems to be a better choice....Remember though, if you have proper amounts of carbs at your PWO and PPWO meals you should have filled both muscle glycogen as well as liver glycogen which is what will be primarily used during the over night fast!

I'll stick with the Caesin then if the flax doesn't do the trick with the whey. Just trying to save some kind of money if possible. Thanks for the replies.

I have personaly never noticed any gains difference betwen drinking a whey shake before beed or consuming a slow acting protein.

Theoreticaly(dont know how much impact this would have) raising the ph of the meal will slow down protein digestions since the main stomach digestive enzyme for protein is pepsin and it wont work unless the ph is very low. So consuming a anti acid along with the meal should slow down the protein digestion.

However the stomach plays a fairly small part in digesting protein so it might not be such a big delay.
