what is a legume?
Can you give me a list of approved legumes to be used as a carb source for pro/carb meals?
Are these better or as good as oats for a carb source?

examples of legumes are: lentils, peanuts, peas, and soybeans
They're high in protein and, with the exception of peanuts, low in fat. They contain moderate-high amounts of carbohydrates (again with peanuts being the exception) and high amounts of fiber. They're low glycemic...rating lower than oats on the glycemic index.
The rating alone doesn't mean that they are necessarily better than oats as a carb source though.
IMO Oats are better...

why are oats better IUO??

First off...oats contain more usuable carbs per equivalent serving.
The poster's question was in regards to a better 'carb source'.
Secondly...oats are documented as having a higher saiety factor than legumes.
i.e. they make a better 'diet food'.

Now i ask which is the better source of carbs between oats vs. grits vs. cream of wheat?
Sorry for the questions. Thanks for the replies!

IMO lentils is a better diet food because of not only the lower gi(oats are like 70 in gi and beans are 30 so its a bigger difference betwen beans and oats then there is betwen oats and sugar) and higher fiber content but also because of the high ammounts of minerals and phytochemicals wich can not be found in oats. They also contains less carbs(oats around 55% beans around 30-40%) compered to oats so more can be eaten in each meal.
From a macro point of view oats might be better, from a micro point of view lentils and beans is superior.
imo both have a place in a bb diet and none should be replaced with the other

again...I'd go with oats ..altho recently, after a thread where ~SC~ gave an opinion in favour of cream-of-wheat, i started using cream-of-wheat PPWO.
I think oats have the lowest GI rating (and highest fiber content) of the three...while grits and cream-of-wheat are very similar GI-wise..but all in all the three are each slow-digesting carbs foods...so IMO it comes down to personal preference

All are good, but damn some nice Cream of Wheat in there as a "change of pace" meal. Does the trick, so smooth so, so creamy....So GAY!! LOL!
