Thread: Excessive protein?

I was talking to a guy I know who has been competing for 10 plus years and he said that consuming more than around 30g of protein at one time is enough and any more is just wasted. It this true?

man the dumbass gym owner at my gym said the same thing...
according to him red meat takes like 4or5 hours to digest so there for ur body cannot absorb any more protein till its digested... how the **** to u eat 2 grams plus per pound of body wieght when u have to wait that long before u can absorb protein again....

I consume about 35 grams a meal and take 40 grams every time i take a shake. I dosent make a difference man. You just cant take in like 60grams but i do what i do and everything works great for me. Better to have too much then not have enough at all.

Think about how protein intake/digestion/uptake would differ greatly between one who is 150 lbs, and one who is 280.

30g per meal is prob advisable if your 150lbs
but 200+ and on anabolics?

currently around 240, takin in 50-60 gms every 3hrs or so. SPA 1.8gm per kg BW and I am still overdoing according to ACSM.

most people reccommend between 1-2 gram per lb/bodyweight
