    Breakfast Ideas

OK folks...since it is quite possibly the most important meal of the day lets here what you eat for breakfast.

For me breakfast has to be fullfilling...but simple. You can't cook up eggs days in advance but if you plan ahead you can speed things up. On Sunday I cut up 3-4 large oinions and a package of mushrooms amd put them in the fridge. When I get home from cardio I put a tbls of olive oil in a pan and dump in some oinions and mushrooms. While they're cooking I beat 6 eggs (2 whole + 4 whites), dump it in, flip it, put on a slice of fat free cheese and voila...a low fat omlette. On occasion I'll add green pepper, diced chicken breast or shrimp (always prepared in advance). If I'm trying to get lean I'll have it with a bowl of cooked oats with added raisins, topped with sugar twin (splenda for Mike). If I'm bulking I'll add a protein drink made with skim milk, I'll have 2 slices of whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter and a banana. As always wash it down with a litre of water.

    hi there,

i for some reason prefer to separate my breakfast components

a soon as i wake up i throw in a whey shake - quick 20g of pure protein. then i actually wake up ie. have coffee, brush teeth etc.

then comes the 6 egg whites + full egg
then comes some wholesome oatmeal - which being separate - i can play around with in terms of tastes and shit. sometimes its plain, sometimes vanialla, sometimes rum extract (perfect for morning haha ) etc.

i just like keeping them apart cause u can have soo much more variety - and on the strict diets ALL of us are on, hint hint, nudge nudge, variety is an absolute NECCESSITY !

    Pete, I'm impressed!
You're turning into quite a cook, gonna have to give that a try myself.
My morning breakfast is useually the largest meal I eat during the day. Here it is
4:30AM Wake up, fix 1 bowl of grits or oatmeal for some complex carbs. Then it's off to the gym.
6:45 AM-- I back home now, scramble 5 eggs( 2 whole, 3 whites) 2 peices of toast, bowl of grits, large glass of milk. Accasionally on my cheat day I'll cook up some bacon but that is very rare as the fat content is way to high for my diet. The rest of my day is spent eating smaller meals thorugh out the day, with dinner being the one meal that I really put some effort in preparing.

Good post, I like your breakfast Pete, I prepare as much as I can but breakfast for me is a rush job so:

    100g oats with honey

    10 egg whites
    2 yolks
    1 scoop protein
    Milk

Blend and oats and a shake.

    Does it for me

    I Like BA's and Billy's....It's quick, it's easy, it's done.

If you want a yummy treat I almost have bi-weekly...try this. Here's a hearty meal for a big boy, or two smaller servings for someone dieting.

    1 Garlic Clove
    1 t Crushed Red pepper
    1 bell pepper
    1 Onion
    1/2 Package of Mushrooms
2 Cups Brown/White Rice (Brown makes it taste better IMO)
    6-8 ounces of chicken
    1/2T olive oil.

Boil appropriate water to cook rice. Grill chicken, spiced with Black pepper. Throw olive oil in the pan.....BAM!!! Pan on Medium/Medium-High heat, saute all veggies including garlic. BAM!!!! Once veggies have been LIGHTLY browned(I can not stress this enough, LIGHTLY....too much cooking of the veggies will turn them soggy and limp...kinda like a guy on a deca only cycle ) . Toss in rice just to heat it up with the veggies, by now...chicken should be done. Slice up chicken into appropriate slices. Mix in the pan with the other ingredients, throw into a big bowl....and BAM!!!! That is the best tasting stir fry one will ever eat! Seriously, i rarely make it, it's too much of a hassle...but when i do... I love it!

I know this sounds petty but there is actually about 96g of carbs in a 2 cup portion of cooked brown rice...I only mention this for the benefit of those who are strictly counting thier carb intake. No offense Papapump...the recipe sounds great...Bert loves stir fry.

Oatmeal and protein shake w/ no carbs....

I am currently dieting so when I am on a gain or maintenance I make a bigger serving may a piece of toast w/ PB or omelet w/ a lil cheese .

Since I have switched my theory on how to get muscular ( big and lean ) I have made quicker progress . Its nice to be 6' 235 lbs but smooth ( Big , but , Smooth ) Scary but smooth ..hehe
I am much leaner now 206lbs but feel great and still working to my goals. 215 lbs @ 10% .....

My only problem is being constantly asked ; Are you losing weight ?
" As I rain blows on his head I said ; There must be a better way !" Festivas was born ...... ( George Costanza ) Seinfeld...hehe
( Ooops as pointed out later it was indeed FRANK COSTANZA )
Good luck you guys ... wish me some too if you get a chance .

It was Frank Costanza who said that...he was fighting with a man over the last doll at the toy store (present for George). I watch WAY too much Seinfeld "The sea was angry that day my friends...like an old man trying to send soup back at a deli."

That is me to a tee. I don't even eat it at home. I pour it in a cup and drink it on the way to work. If I feal like adding more I put in 4 egg whites and a banana for flavor and put it in the blender. Oh ya cant forget my vitamins and 2 ECA stacks.

Ahhhhh oatmeal and whey "The Breakfast of Champions".

Ive eaten the same thing every morning for 2 yrs

eggs and oatmeal...and I love it...always satisfying, and some days I eat it 3-4 times.. poor chickens asses must hate me.

    10-11 white, 1/2-1 yolk
    depending on bulking or dieting:
1 cup cooked oatmeal(diet) or 1.5 cups cooked oatmeal and a piece of whole wheat bread.

NICE AND EASY..just one thing I can't give up >KETCHUP on my eggs... no meats complete...with out ketchup. lots of sugar and sodium oh well I make up for it in other area's.

Most of us do the Oatmeal and egg whites! But I love to add a couple pieces of fruit in the early a.m. too. But latley been staying away from the bananas. Way too sugary! Just apples!

Thought I would toss in a few of my staples:

(*Typically my first meal is my post workout shake since I usually workout first thing in am on empty stomach, so the following generally applies to off days, or late training days.*)

    1) The usual oatmeal with protein powder mixed in - cant beat it. Cheap, easy, quick, nutritious

    2) All - Bran Extra Fiber cereal with protein powder and skim milk.
About the only breakfast cereal worth a damn. No sugar, 13g fiber per 1/2 cup serving, complex carbs, and with the milk and powder, plenty o' protein.

    3) Omelet (1 "Omega 3 Egg" and a 12 tbsp "Egg All-Whites")
usually toss in some ground turkey and/or fat free cheese and top it off with 1 or 2 tbsp spicy salsa.

    4) or just an MRP if time is short.

    That's about it for me.

I just ate Marky Marks French Toast -yum.

Then I took the butter stick and rubbed it on the top of the pieces, put a packet of Splenda on each piece, and put it in the broiler for a min or two...GOOD SHIT!
