    Honey PWO

    am i right in thinking the sugars contained within honey are pure Dex?

    i remember hearing this, but have also heard the opposite and that it may not be suitable for PWO

    i just had a pro/dex drink PWO along with 4 rice cakes with honey and butterscotch toffee falvoured whey poured on top

    it taste too good to feel healthy

    felt like a cheat meal

    Honey is like 50% Fructose and 50% Glucose, so some honey PWO would be fine. Seeing as you liver glycogen will be depleted as well. I wouldn't make it my staple though.

    the trouble was that i had no idea how much honey i was putting on

    according to the jar its 76g sugar per 100g
    but i have no idea how much i used
    5 tea spoon full perhaps


    it tasted so good though and was a refreshing change, i think i will try it again and use less Dex/Whey in my shake

    I think the ammount of dex in honey can vary as much as from 30% to 80%(might remember wrong). The brand should tell you how much of each carb it contains though.

    i use honey right now as well i stop buy KFC and pick up those honey packets for the counter the employees always look at me like WTF?????? but i grab a hand full eod to last me

    For my pre & pwo's, I've used 1 tablespoon honey 1/2cup raw oats + 1tbs cinammon for the carbs and 1.5 scoop isopure as protein, mixed w/ water. I make one for pre (~2hrs before lifting) & the same for post. Non-training days. I drop the oats to .25cup, and completly exclude the honey and cinammon. Yeah it's not the dex-pro 2-1 approach... but there were good articles on the forum regarding low gi pwo carbs, and I sort of stuck to it.

    i have found a draw back to all this honey PWO

    it is difficult to moderate how much you are consuming and last night i think i over did it which would explain my sudden feelin of low blood sugar

    which consequently gave me the "sweet Tooth" - which led me to consume all of the following:

    1 litre vanilla ice cream
    1/2 litre lemon sorbet ice cream
    2 bowels alpen
    4 choc cookies
    4 meringue's
    1/2 pot of honey
    lots of maple syrup


    i think i actually lost it for a minute - temporary insanity - needless to say i felt guilty

    Dont blame the honey, your just weak as a bunch of pregnant woman in close proximity to a chocolate store

    sounds like a good cheat btw something I must copy next cheatday.

    and i do blame the honey Dammit

    it was an amazing cheat meal though all that alpen and honey mixed with the lemon sorbet

    then all that vanilla ice cream with crushed choc cookies and meringue along with maple syrup and butter toffee flavoured whey

    omg it was good

    The trick is to make the pro/fat meals so bland and boring that you dont want to eat anymore SO when you have forced it down you will feel sic and wont be looking at food for a hour or 2.

    Had a cheat day yesterday but maby I should eat the leftovers today mmmmm some french fries, maby some potatoe chips ohh god food orgasm.
