my question is im currently bulking and i was wondering should i count incomplete proteins towards my total protein intake? such as those found in breads or peanuts.or should i just count the completes? i was wondering this because if i just count the completes then im going to have to eat a ton more food to hit my 395grams of protein a day.
yes u should count them. what % of ur protein intake is of these "incomplete" proteins and what are they.
im not sure off hand , but when i have oats or whole grain bread , peanut butter and so forth they probably make up 15% or so.
i dont count incomplete only cout the protein comming from meats and whey
Incomplete proteins still are calories and should be counted, if you consume enough protein over the course of a day you are going to eat enough good proteins to make up for an incomplete ones.
Incomplete protein should be counted for CALORIE purposes, yes.
They should not be counted toward your muscle building protein intake, no.

so only lean meats and whey shakes count on protein intake swole.
Beef/pork/chicken/turkey/eggs/fish/tuna/cottage cheese/real cheese off the top of my head.

thanks for the answer swole I didn't know that either and I wanted to thank you I've learned alot in last couple of weeks reading up on diets you critique and am now eating healthy and loving it.

dont fret over incomplete proteins. Your body has a aminoacid pool where aminoacids are constantly circluating. What you eat add to that pool so the different aminos from different sources will blend and give you a full spectrum of aminoacids. The protein quality in each meal is of no interest at all realy unless you live on just ONE source of protein for weeks at a time.
Different foods complement eachother very well and balance the pool out.
ok, i should count them as calories but not towards my muscle building protein calories. so where do these calories come into play? what i mean is im currently eating 395g carbs , 395g protein, and 88g fat a day. these all make up my total of 3,949 calories a day which is calculated based on the bulking sticky. were do i count these calories? i will be going over my 3,949 calories a day if i count these seperate. any thoughts?
i realyy dont see why you wouldnt count incomplete proteins in your overall protein intake
i presume you are refering to protein found in legumes and oats for example
i count all proteins towards my total value except for those found in veggies or fruit
exactly. They are not high quality looking at them alone but in combination with other foods they become just as good. Protein quality has no meaning whatsoever for people eating a diverse diet.Quote:

I'm pulling my hair out over here trying to find a sheet that I had from one of classes. Showing what foods you can combine to form complete proteins. You dont neccasirly need to eat steak all day to get complete proteins.

if any of you have the arnold modern encyclopedia of bodybuilding there is a small section in the diet chapter that lists foods you can combine to form complete proteins. but id like to have a longer list as well.

I'm gonig to search a bit on that. Thats really important. You can eat some rice and beans and get the saem AA profile as eatign piece of Chicken. Well...not exactly but you know what I mean.

Even us VETs pull up old threads to learn new stuff everyday, usually I won't bump them but this one was left unanswered and I think it was good info.
