    Natural Peanutbutter?

Any body know where I can find it? None of the stores around me carry it.

If you're still in NYC, try the health food stores. There's also a supermarket chain called Fresh Fields/Whole Foods (based in MD) that probably has stores outside the city (I know they're in northern NJ somewhere, and they have a web site), and they have their own brand.

Try your food co-op or better yet make it yourself. Nothing more than throwing peanuts in a blender. Works and tastes great, and you can't get it any fresher.

You can really just throw peanuts in a blender?

okay, before I try this I want a second opinion. My wife is gonna be pissed at you if I try this and it doesn't work. I can visualize many things going wrong with this process. lol

    Anybody else really do this?

    peace,

It's an acquired taste. If you're used to Jif/Skippy/Peter Pan, you'll find natural peanut butter to be rougher (not as smooth) and you may miss the added sodium at first. Also, with many natural peanut butters the peanut oil separates and gathers at the top of the container, so you may have to stir it before eating.

(I don't use it myself. I stick with the Peter Pan Lower Fat version, which has 12 g. of fat per serving instead of 18 g.)

I don’t think your regular blender will purée it enough. Some grocery stores have a Natural peanut butter dispenser there. You buy unsalted peanuts and put them in and grindo… you have natural peanut butter.

Most grocery stores carry natural peanut butter though. Also brand names like Laura Schudders (sp), Smucker’s make it. Just read the labels…

Like TNT said: It is different tasting... You have to stir it up first then keep it in the fridge. But there is nothing stickier to the mouth then Natural peanut butter!

If you live in an area where they have Kroger supermarkets, Kroger's house-brand Natural peanut butter is excellent, and cheap. It's easily as good as the expensive health-food store brands. The ingredients list reads: "contains peanuts, salt."

I'm sure that many other national supermarket chains have similar house-brand products.

yes this is what I use, and yes you do have to stir it as it separates.

I give it a I can't even stand the smell of the Jif/Peter Pan/Skippy stuff anymore. It smells like chemicals to me.

To me, Jif/Peter Pan/Skippy tastes like peanut-flavored Crisco.

Your kidding. I thought that most grocery stores carry this. Try looking again and see, I'm almost sure that they should.

fat's not the point with this...check the ingredients...the second one is still high fructose corn syrup...

if you get unsalted natural pb the only ingredient is peanuts
    What happens here, stays here

    Exactly!

    Peanut oil = good
Partially hydrogenated vegetable oil = Crisco = bad

I'm gonna start using the smuckers as well.. and about the taste... I bet it sort of like the change from whole or 2% milk to skim... after a few weeks, you can't stand the old stuff and love the new.
