    Question Protein Qauntity Question

Can anyone tell me how much protein is enough or to much? I'm 6-0, 250, 33yo, lift 5 days a week, cardio 3x week, bf 24%. Currently I'm taking in about 250-270g of protein a day. I'm trying to cut while hanging on to what lbm I have. Now I have heard that I should be taking in anywhere from 180g to 300g per day. I have tried searching for this info, but enter the word protein in the search button and stand by for about a gazzillion hits. Thanks for any help.

Keep the protein around 1-1.5 g per lb of b/w.Dropping the carbs will help reduce the bodyfat levels

Ok, that is what I had heard before too. But, that puts me between 250 and 375g p/day. What happens to the excess protein if not used by the muscels? Is it stored as fat?

I believe that excess protein is turned into waste and disposed of......(nicest way I could think to put it)

really extreme amounts will eventually turn into fat and be stored - but normally if you are 10-15% over what you can absorb/use, your body converts it into uric acid and then into urea, and then it is disposed of via your urine.

I am with Billy too. Your protien intake sounds fine. Limit your carbs, especiially at night. And keep up the cardio and even try to increase it. In tandem these two thinks will get you going in the right direction. They work.
