    am cardio question

I know the benefits of am cardio on an empty stomach (saw the thread the other day).

That being said....I'm doing a 5mi run tomorrow, so should I go on an empty stomach, or take a little something. If I do eat, what should it be?

    thanks.

Are you looking to build muscle or lose fat?

5 mile run? Yeah, I would have some low gi carbs and protein such as a small bowl of whole grain pasta and chicken or oats and eggs before I did all that running.

Pasta is low Gi? I'm celiac so I can't eat pasta (at least not wheat corn or egg pasta) but I was under the impression it was High Gi, I thought brown rice n sweet potatoes were the only low gi carbs

Whole-grain pasta is low gi, not the flour enriched versions.

and drink some gatorade with about 10 -20 grams of BCAA's added during your run . . . dude 5 miles is a long way to run and stay anabolic . . . be careful or you'll end up looking like a runner . . .

Why not simply do another form of cardio to lose the bodyfat but spare the muscle, and limit the running for your job only when you have to do it. You can use one or two cardio sessions a week to run, but make the other days a diff. form that addresses pure lipolysis.

    That's what I'd do.

Thanks for the help, swole. yah, I am loosing some size and muscle mass, but I'm going into the Marines in 2 months, so I gotta change my training a bit, and get some endurance, not just strength.

It sucks, too. I feel myself getting thinner and I can't freakin stand it!!
