    Protein Shakes

What do you mix your whey with? I've always used milk but after reading the cutting sticky it says not too. Water?

Only mix it with milk if you desire a pro/carb meal. Otherwise stick to water.

If you don't use dex then Milk is great. If you do you'd just have to lessen one or the other, might taste weird though??

So how exactly important is Dextrose? Is PWO the only time to mix with whey? Would water/dex be that much different than milk?

Sorry for the noob questions. Seems to be alot of different opinions on the topic.

Yes there are a few opinoins. Personally I don;t use Dex and don't see much need/evidence to do so. However others do believe in dex, it comes down to personal preference really. The point is carbs and protein are need post workout.

    Giantz:

Do you not use dextrose because you don't believe in the need for both protein and sugar to raise insulin levels postworkout? Or do you simply use something other than dextrose to raise your insulin levels?

No I use carbohydrate and protein post workout, but I do not use Dex simply because I have never seen any proof that says elevated plasma insulin increases protein synthesis. In fact most literature I've read states the oppsosite.

I suppose there are a number of schools of thought about this. I am currently not using any sort of carbohydrate PWO (<gasp>, I know!) and I'm going to be implementing the whole dex/maltodextrin combo (protien:dex:maltodex = 1:1:1). I generally get about 40g protein PWO right now.
