So do I want low GI carbs or high GI carbs?

are these all the same?...low gi carbs, complex carbs, "good" carbs?

and things like dextrose are high gi for post workout.

for the most part we want complex carbs right? i know the simple carbs are more sugar or turn to sugar faster. isnt it better to eat low gi carbs throughout the day except for pwo? i read some posts about people grinding up their oats to raise their gi. i was always under the impression that we were better off eating less sugary carbs. so whats the deal?

Your impression was right. I think the only time more than minimal high gi carbs can be consumed is PWO. I try to avoid sugar other than that. I may actually start experimenting with oats pwo as well.

Pre contest all my carb souces are complex eg Brown rice, oatmeal, except postworkout when i have some dextrose.

Off season the ony time i have complex carbs is before training to stave off catabolism. The rest of the day i eat high/medium GI carbs like baked potatos, whie rice and pasta. These carbs sources dont keep me full as long and allow me to consume more calories.

Bear in mind that i have a fast metabolism, if you are the sort that gains bodyfat easily Complex carbs are the way to go except post workout even in the off season.

johan I know you do not believe in high GI for pwo. Do you think one could benefit in weightloss goals by removing a high GI carb, such as dextrose, from PWO?

or that. Its GI is lower than oats correct. I believe it is...not sure where to get it though.

    If I got that I would use something like..40g whey 40g malto..correct?
