This formula will only work for the majority of "slender" people. I would not trust it for anything than a mere "guesstimate". I am naturally slender, and it was close though (it claimed 9.1%...I am actually at 8%).

yup. Kind of like my BMI considers me "morbidly obese" I figured it was one of those deals. I really need to get some calipers.

just head to the nearest personal trainer and they will either be able to do a caliper test or have a impedance scale.

For me both methods seems very unreliable I did both at a pt on the same day and the caliper showed me at 8%(I was above 10 for sure) and the impedance scale at 14% and I was below that for sure.

5-6 years ago when impedance scales was new me and my buddy got tested in the hospital for fun. I got 17% wich was probably accurate. But the funny thing is that it claimed my buddy had 21% bodyfat and he was ripped as hell

Yea, the impedance scales are inaccurate. They send an electrical signal from hand, through body to other hand (or feet depending on type). Some people hold fat more in upper vs. lower and vice versus. Also, the reading can be skewwed if you are hydrated well because the water increases (i think) the conductivity. I say usually + or - 4 or 5%.
