    For you evening trainers.....

what do ou do in this scenerio? Now, I don't want to make this complicated, but just looking to see what is optimal. I eat a small meal of pro/carbs and 3pm. I train from 5-630. Now, I can either do a whey/dext shake, shower, clean up, etc. and by the time I get home, It's about 10 minutes before I crash. So is it optimal to have a shake when I get home of pro/fats, like Muscle milk, or do I need a pro/carb MEAL before bed?

ORrr...do I have a pro.carb meal after training and then a shake before bed?

so, done at 630 with training
    bed by 9pm.

I would never go to bed without solid foods in my stomach. A Shake will digest far too fast.

im on a very similar timeframe as you are. i have my pwo shake (whey & dex) @ around 7:00. then right before bed, 9:30-ish, i have a pro/fat. i would love to have enough time to fit a pro/carb meal in but i just dont think it would be a good idea for me. im on a cutting diet. what do u think?

thats my question...........I dont think its a good idea to have whey/dext and then fats/pro in the next meal......insulin is still high!!

I am thinking NO SHAKE, meal at 7pm of carbs and pro (toast and egg whites) and then a muscle milk shake prebed

If anything either do: Whey/Dex then follow up with Pro/carb or
PWO of Whey/Oats and then follow up with a pro/fat meal. But I wouldn't do Whey/Dex then pro/fat.

That sounds ok but too manyt shakes. I'd try and get a whole meal in after the shake.

i agree w/steve...but it sounds to me like you go to bed fairly early. 7:30ish??? im all about the sleep, but maybe you should stay up an extra hour to have your pro/fat meal.

but, i dont think there will be any harm in a pro/carb meal before bed if it is your PPWO. just have something low GI.

im so used to the pwo shake. im thinking about switching up and having a whole meal instead.

muscle milk pre-bed...kurtz, how long have you been doing this? positive results i guess? i love the stuff but have been reluctant to take too much of it.

    hello??? mcfly? you in there?

steve just said real food. have your PWO shake then your PPWO (solid food--chick breast & brown rice or something). then bed. if you feel like you absolutely need the calories...you can wake up in the middle of the night and have your muscle milk shake. had a boyfriend that did that for a while and got awesome results. i think muscle milk is great for bulking if you have the metabolism for it.

I'd do whey/dex after the gym, whey/oats b4 bed, and IF you wake up during the night a protein shake

    Whey/dex immediately after.

Solid carb/pro meal 1 to 1.5 hours after that shake.

    DONE.

that seems to be the best approach to this madness.......boy, why am I having such a rough time with it??? Problem is, I train, finish at 630, run home, shower, feed the dog, clean up, and then fly back to the office (it's tax season)....then I go home around 830pm let the dog piss, give him a treat and hit the sack by 9pm latest. (up at 4am).........................

So SC - would you do this and approve of it?

Whey/Dext at 630 on my way home
do my shit, shower, feed the pooch, and fly back to the office......then at 845 have oats and whey crashing at 9pm.....so I only have about 15 minutes before bed (obviously my biggest concern)

All I have been doing is peanuts and casein right before bed (pro/fats), but apparently this will be better?

kurz...im really not trying to be rude w/this. i mean, i know you can read. swolecat said:

    DONE

so, have your shake at 6:30
have a SOLID pro/carb meal at 7:45-8 (bring with you to the office if you have to, they must have microwaves)
then go to bed at 9pm.

you dont have to eat the second before you go to bed. in addition to what swole said...and like i said before...i would recommend a casein (or whey) and flax shake at 12:00am...and wake up at 4am. But that is just something I would suggest.
