I say to hell with soy cause I get mad gas from it, almost bad enough to kill innocent bystanders. God help em if I get trapped in an elevator with em after a good ol soy protein shake.

    Protein

    kizer-soce,
Listen to Billy, that post he wrote is damn worth reading. It explains everything that you might want to know about protien. He really out did himself on that one.

    Soy Milk

    Hey Ron,
According to "The Protien Counter" by Annette B. Natow and jo-Ann Heslin Heslin Soy milk contains the following.

    For 1 cup per serving
    79 cals
    4 carbs
    5 grams fat
    7 grams protien

As opposed to reg. milk which contains

    1% for 1 cup 102 cals
    12 carbs
    3 grams protien
    8 grams fat
Sounds like soy milk is where it is at. How does it taste?

    thanks guys
i will do that search. also, tobey, regular cow's milk has more protein in it then you stated. i believe it has 8 grams of protein in it according to the label. just look for yourself. also, if you are talking about 1% cow's milk, it has far less fat than you stated. i think it is something like 2.5 grams, 1.5 of which are saturated. anyway thanks again.

I like soy milk personally. Im eating some Bran cereal in it right now for breakfast. Nice change of pace from oatmeal. I put it in my protein shakes occasionally. Its good to just drink also.

I drink around 4 litres of skimmed milk a day and I love the stuff

    1 litre of skimmed milk
    39.8g protein
    60g carbs
    1.2 fat
    1.2 saturated fat
    420 cals

Soy milk is just as good but I don,t like the taste.

    Soy protein and Canned Tuna

Hey i read on my can of tuna that it soy protein. Does that mean they fixed the amount of protein in the can to be as good as the amount of protein in a non canned fish with soy protein?

    Partyboy what is isoflavone?

Pboy, I knew about that. I don't drink it on a daily basis. I think in this small amount I should be ok. That tunia thing is new to me though.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!! Soy causes Dain Bramage. Guess I better stop drinking 5 gallons a day............ Why is it that doctors have to find something new every year that will kill you. Then the next year they say its healthy for you.

I personally stay away from Dairy as much as possible .... I have a bit non or 1% with my Oats , maybe some pizza or cheese on my Saturday free meal but thats about it ...

My diet now needs no dairy ..I would just be forcing more than just tuna down if I had to use SOY products .... OUHS)(*@^%#^

    Hey guys
Yes Soy does contain Isoflavones .... Thats why western society women suffer much less menopause symptoms because their diets contain more soy
But Soy Isolate doesent contain these and actually can raise testosterone ill paste a article i found cant remember where though
    Hormonal Studies.

1)A study found that soy protein isolate (daidzein) may have a gender specific normalizing effect on sex-hormone production. Male lab animals experienced greater testosterone and growth-hormone excretion as well as muscle growth" This contradicts the study that found that genestein decreased testosterone serum.

2)Another study found that soy may be actually anti-strogenic. . They may also act as anti-strogens by competing for the binding sites of estrogen receptors or the active site of the estrogen biosynthesizing and metabolizing enzymes, such as aromatize and estrogen-specific 17 beta-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase (type 1).

3)Probably the best research study contracting the one used by the author of "The bad protein" is this.

The phytoestrogens are only found in raw soy products. Not soy protein isolates, which are used as protein supplements for bodybuilders.

"There are very little data on effects of phytoestrogens in males. Estrogenic effects in wildlife have been described but the evidence for the role of phytoestrogens is indirect and seen under conditions of excessive exposure."

Soy has estogen-like properties so that it binds to your receptors more readily than your own edogenous estrogen. Good news is that it is much weaker and benign, kinda like taking Nolvadex -it binds to estrogen receptors and blocks the bad stuff. MHP's Probolic is soy, a cutting edge product from a great company. Check out CEO Gerard Dente, he's a bodybuilder, on their website -he built that with soy...
