Cholesterol is sooo over rated....the majority of people who have high cholesterol: it is either hereditary or because of excess saturated and trans fatty acid intake.

If you don't like salmon, try trout. Its very mild and is excellent grilled with some lemon juice on it. Cropy is excellent, and of course catfish(usually best fried though). Bull reds, or shit, go pick you up some black tail shark from the fish market(or offshore if you can).

    shrimp is expensive!

On the college budget, i like tuna right out of the can with 2 tablespoons of spicy mustard and miracle whip, and 2 bagles.

Shrimp is a good clean source of protein, and cholesterol is not an issue unless you have a cholesterol problem. The only concern with shrimp is the sodium content. But if you are not on a comp diet, eat and enjoy shrimp all you want.
One today is worth two tomorrows.

I'm afraid that I have to agree with PaPaPump - all of the latest research has proven that one's cholesterol does not rise because of foods heavy in cholesterol (like shellfish) but because of foods that are heavy in saturated fats.

Shrimp, in fact, are one of the best foods - they have almost no fat at all but are packed with protein. On the rare occasion that I do a carb-based meal (such as pasta), I always toss in some shrimp to get the extra protein with minimal extra calories and fat.

Suggestion, however: Make sure you wash the shrimp well (rise them through a collander) - they can be heavy in sodium, and the extra rinsing will get ris of the extra sodium. Remember that all shrimp come to your store frozen (here in the States, most of our shrim comes from Thailand or South America). Shrimp prices have come way down over the past few years (as have salmon and other fish prices, thanks to fish now being farm raised), so I generally stick with the CPD variety (already cleaned, peeled, deveined, and cooked).

17g per shrimp? what?!?!?!? i thought it was around 1g per shrimp. not flamin, but that sounds insane. if it was true every bodybuilder in the world would live off that shit. 20 shrimps will give me enough protein for the day? i wish man. i have a weakass digestive system and that would be a dream.
