questions about ketosis and calories
Ok I am wondering, I know fat is needed to get into ketosis quicker however it seems as though body fat is a primary source of fuel once you are in ketosis, so once you are in what about reducing the fat intake? or total cals intake? would this still be muscle sparing and effective as fat loss? I guess I would still add some var and T3 to keep the metabolism up and to keep muscle catabolism down as much as possible. I am just thinking outloud really any ideas anyone?

I use fat intake to moderate my weight. If you up your fat intake there seems to be a decline in the rate of weight loss. and if I eat eough fat i can remain constant. No matter how much I eat in fat and protien I never seem to be able to gain. So if I want to gain, I must eat carbs. And wow, the weight comes on quickly for me- I can put on 10 pounds in a couple days just by smelling carbs!.

heres from lyle macds faq
a. fat intake must be at least 1.5 grams of fat for each gram of
protein/carbs. If you want a rationale, use Dejanews and track down
my discussion of the ketogenic ratios. If you want to try to
get into ketosis on less fat, it's your funeral. It will happen
but it will take much longer and not work as well. Please, please,
please trust me on this one. I've gotten far too much mail from
people who can't get into ketosis until day 4 or 5 of the week
because they are not eating enough fat on the diet. And, one day
in ketosis won't cut it for fat loss. With the proper combination of
ketogenic ratio, training (see last week's FAQ) and use of glucose
disposal agents (see last week's FAQ), you should hit ketosis
by late Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning at the latest.
That gives you almost 3 full days in ketosis.

Re: Re: questions about ketosis and calories
High fat intake is essential to get into ketosis.
If you just eat protein by itself, up to 50% of it will be converted to glocose anyway.
Basically anyone who just eats protein all day long without pairing their proteins with either fat, fiber or slow burning carbs is defeating the purpose of a low carb diet
