Question Soda Pop Bad For Muscle Gains

I heard that drinking soda pop eats away at muscle and bone mass, and I was wondering if this is true.

    Anybody ever hear of this?

Not sure of that, but it's unnecessary sugar and carbs and really serve no benefit. Soda's horrible. I drink nothing but water.

I think it had something to do with the acid in soda pop.

    Thanks for you reply yellows2k.

yup drinking "soda" <- you must be from up north MUAHAH , anyways can cause Brital bones, but that's based on kids who live off the shit and don't drink anything healthy. I don't know about the muscle part, but drinking beer lower's testosterone and increase's estrogen on a side note.

Don't think it causes muscle loss, but the phosphoric acid does weaken bones a bit. As with everything else, a little is fine, don't overdo it.

I believe it is very acidic (note that soaking a tooth in it thing many of us did in grade school...) ... which is bad for proper digestion, dietary protein utilization and fostering the growth of beneficial digestive enzymes. Taking some Sodium Bicarbonate is common for those that have an acidic stomach from a lot of intense training and/or diet related. The best way to use Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda - the cheapest supplement ever) loading is to take Alka Seltzers... which assures it completely dissolves. An undissolved clump of baking soda would not do well in your stomach.

Soda being nothing but sugar will also make you soft....(get your minds outta the gutter fellas!) I mean will give your muscles a soft appearance.
Water, milk, juice, unsweetened tea, or coffee on occasion is all I'll drink.

This is very true - soda is loaded with sugars just to top it all off. All around a poor beverage choice when looking at maximizing results...
