Cups, Ounces....Rice....
Ok, i feel dumb asking this....
How do you measure Rice? Well what I mean is when you prepare rice for example: you will put 1 cup of rice in the pot...well, after you cook it the volume of it will go up and you will probably have 1 1/2 cups of rice after you cooked it...ive read somewhere that 1/4 of a raw rice will be 3/4 after cooking it... So my basic queastion is how do you know exactly whats you calorice intake and carbs????
I hate cooking and i never cooked before in my life...but its about time to start

look at it this way.....it might look like more rice, but it's not. it's just bloated rice - there's just extra water in the rice grain, so it's not like you're getting more rice.

take a dry measure. I prefer mass (grams), over volumn.

oh, cook a bunch, put it in tupperware or a plastic bag or something. cook a whole box at a time and split it up using your measuring cup later on.

what are you confused about ??? instead of measuring 2 cups of rice each day and waiting 30 min for it to cook, cook 6 cups of rice with the right amount of water, then just divide it up into tupperware. if you are very concerned about measuring the cooked rice for each meal, then just use your measuring cup to divide it up again.

1 cup rice = 1 cup water. let water boil, turn off stove, drop in rice, cover. then just let it evaporate and absorb into rice! thats what i do with my minute rice. good stuff

Ok, it might cost more but I buy the minute rice....boil-in-a-bag. Each bag consitis of 2 cups and all you do is boil your water, when it begins to boil, drop in the bag of rice, wait 5 minutes, remove, drain, and viola....you're done. Like I said 1 box has 4 bags which equals 8 servings, it costs like $1.20. But it only takes a few minutes.
