Yes, LEAN meats are fine for cutting. I use them all the time, great protein content and digestion properties.

I use the extra-lean ground beef to make my burgers

Extra lean of course doesn't make nice patties, so I add 1 raw egg per pound of beef. Holds the patty very well on the BBQ, and is a lot healthier than using fat to hold the meat together. (yes I cook ALL my beef on the BBQ)

Hey Pain...Ground turkey breast is low in fat. Some markets package and sell the ground breast...I have also seen the regular ground turkey, which is dark and white meat ground to result in higher fat content. I thought if anyone knew about turkeys.!!!... turkey

Yup, you have to find the all white meat turkey breast. My grocer doesn't carry it.

they use the dark meat in the turkey patties and thats the worse part of the chicken meat fat wise.

I try to eat a solid diet every day so, if i want a hamburger i have one once a week.

Cheat days are the key to anyone that wants to lose weight. Eat the hamburger, just leave the fries for someone else.

So your saying have one cheat meal or one cheat day a week? And get specific. Are we talking about a Burger King Burger, pizza, a buffet? What exactly is classified as a cheat meal or day when cutting and trying to slim up the ole' gut??!?!?!?

A cheat meal or day, it depends what your body can handle. We use cheat days to get our metabolism back up to normal speed again, your metabolism will slow after a few days of dieting. Your body is smart and sees that it is getting less food (energy) therefore it slows the metabolism down to compensate for this. A cheat day tricks it and gets it going at full speed again. A cheat meal should still be health IMO. A huge cheat meal at BK can kill a weeks worth of dieting in one sitting. I still use healthy carbs and fats when cheating just get more of them. I usually up my carbs by 150g for the day, I also reduce the fats a little as you don't need the extra energy from them as you are getting carbs on this day.

Well it is a good meal, but if you're dieting down it can be considered a cheat meal.

A cheat meal for me would be like a bagel ( dig out the bread ) And lox with onion and eggs, and maybe some orange juice and coffee

Or a peanut butter and REAL jelly sandwich with a big glass of MILK!!!

I look at it this way, from what normal people think is healthy that is my cheat meal!!

Like cereal or something like that!

A cheat meal can be whatever you want, as long as you don't go overboard. Just try and keep it somewhat clean.

If you cut out most of the carbs you don't need to worry about the fat intake as much. When I tried cutting both fat and carbs my weight plummeted very fast, so for me, fat seems benficial to keeping muscle when cutting. I confess, this is not based in science, but it seems to work for me.

Sooner45: for many of us a cheat meal is having a bun with your burger. Ketchup is not even considered!-- nor pizza, nor baked Lays. If you REALLY want to cut it takes a long sustained effort.

I try to eat healthy every day, so on my cheat day i can have a burger and fries if i want one.

I dont order the extra huge double burger with xtra fries or anything, just a normal meal.

LOL my gut has shrunk up, i cant eat huge amounts any more, im a often eater, not a power eater.

I set a max cal limit for my cheat day, Im not one to eat ice cream or that other stuff.

if i was to go 7 days a week diet, i would fail. I dont like the word no hehe i just tell myself, wait till thrusday and you can have the sunkist and burger for dinner.

Isnt it amazing how much you depend on carbs for normal meals? i never noticed until i hit atkins. LOL have some meat with cheese or some chicken hehe
