It's REALLY good for ya! The fiber is water-based like oatmeal, which means it also actually improves your cholesterol levels. It's especially good with beef. although I like it a lot with salmon. I cook up a bunch ahead and throw in some chopped barley and freeze the rest in small freezerbags.
If there's anything bad about it, I've never heard that anywhere myself.

Hulled Barley is probably the best or one of the best complex carbs out there, why everyone else does not think so, I don't know. Pearl Barley is still good, but Hulled Barley is the best, the Hulled Barley contains the most nutrients, you probably will not find it in a regular supermarket, try a health food store, I think its lack of popularity, is the fact that some people don't like the taste of it, I think it is pretty good so I mix a little in with my oatmeal in the morning.
