Is bread ok for gaining lean mass

I'm 5'11" 170lbs and trying to gain some decent lean mass.

I take a load of tuna sandwiches to work and eat them throughout the day. This adds up to nine slices of wholemeal bread a day.
Is this ok or am I likely to start to gain fat cos of all this bread?

I know there are better choices for carbohydrates, and I eat Oatmeal for breakfast & PWO2 meal, but I don't have the time to cook anything for my worktime meals.

I'd try to limit them but if that's all you can do..... Just watch and if you notice a dramatic rise in bf, than either hit up some cardio or ditch the bread.

at 5'11 170, to bulk, you need calories. Period.

Bread is fine, but you're best to make it whole wheat so you get more fiber...

Whole wheat is not far behind white on the gi scale. It does have more fiber but multi-grain is still your best choice.

Actually here's the #'s on the GI scale:
    Multi-grain 48
    Rye 64
    Wheat 68
    White 78

    Hope this helps...US
