How much plain coffee per day would you consider to be unhealthy or dangerous?
Black coffee is only like 7 colories i think it is. Coffee is good for gut health, contributes to hydration, and caffeine is a safe stimulant. As far as unhealthy goes? I sure as hell wouldnt be drinking more than a pot or two at most. Thats my limit
How can coffee contribute to hydration?
If anything, it's a diuretic that can have you dehydrated if you don't drink plenty of water.

During school semsters I'm sure the amount I drink is unhealthy. Minimum 5-7 a day.
As long as it is "coffee"..not "Double Latte Frappucino carmel-something-or others..it should be fine... for evry cup of coffee I drink, I add about 12 oz of water to my my normal water intake. With around 5 cals and negligable carb count ..coffee is a good stimulant. When the crap is added, it becomes a diet/physique killer!
I often drink a pot of the stuff in a day. On a trip to South America a few years ago, I found out what coffee is SUPPOSED to taste like. I have my beans flown in now. Roast in yer oven. Grind em on the spot and make it sooo strong. Gives me a great caffine buzz. I love it because I think it gives me energy and I think it surpresses my appittite. I drink it black.Quote:

I have a feeling that the reseach on this is to go to a Dunkin donuts, look around, see a lot of fat people, and attribute it to the coffee. Am I worong?
Coffee contributing to fat storage makes about as much sense as Saddam having $70,000 + on him, and hiding out in a fuggin' dirt hole with styrofoam covering him.

agreed...though i'll play devils advocate, for the sake of doing so...Quote:

but your body will do that if you eat like that without the coffee...so for the most part...yea, no sense to it at all...
Pick up your January issue of MD (pg. 92). All non-alcoholic beverages promote hydration.
Oh, from a magazine, that explains it.
Not true.......soda, coffee, etc., anything w/caffeine as CAFFEINE is a known diuretic.
Now, if it's other beverages other than caffeinated ones and alcohol, then maybe I can be intrigued as to thinking about believing at least part of it.

Swole Cat is right, coffee is a diuretic(because of the caffeine)....it WILL dehydrate you.Quote:
