    Diet Coke and Whey Protein

Need a little help here. I got a friend who swears that mixing his whey protein with diet coke is ok. I told him diet coke denatures the protein and makes it harder for your body to digest. Anyone who knows please answer.

Why do you tell your friend this if you, yourself, don't know the answer?

I cannot see how protein is denatured any more by coke than your very own stomach acids which are much more volatile...I don't see a problem with it(but afterall, I am no Bio-chemist)

A bigger problem is the lid flying off the shaker bottle and putting his eye out. I can say this from experience!

Technically you denature the protein from eggs (or insert your favorite lean protein here) when you cook them...I don't see the problem, even if there is a little denaturing going on...you'll still get the amino acids when it's digested.

I would tell a good friend not to drink that combo either. Not based to any particular scientific reason, it just doesnt sound like it would taste very good.

Yes you certanly have a point there. Now go eat your tunafish protien drink now. MMMMM. It's soooo nutitions. No difference between having tinafish then a protien drink 5 minutes later. And what's more look at the time you save.
