    max heart rate = 220 - age

    220 - 18 = 202

    65% = 202 x .65 = 131.3
    75% = 202 x .75 = 151.5

    i found those threw some diggin in this EAS fitness book. is that correct?

    going on an empty stomach to hit the recumbent bike at a heart rate in the 130's

    Sounds like you found what you needed but **** it dug it up so I'm going to post it anyway

    1.Take your pulse in the morning before getting out of the bed.
    2.You’re maximum heart rate can be obtained by subtracting your age from 220 (for men) and 226 (for women).
    3.Subtract resting heart rate from the maximum heart rate.
    4.Multiply by .70 (70%)
    5.Add your resting heart rate which will give you the heart rate at you’re 70% level.
    6.To find upper training level (85%) repeat the same steps using .85 in step four.

    Example; 30 year old man with a resting heart rate of 65 would calculate;

    1. 220 – 30 = 190
    2. 190 – 65 = 125
    3. 125 x .70 = 87
    4. 87 + 65 = 152 beats per minute
