The source of energy (glucose)
Storage of energy (glycogen)
Glucose is a monomer- a monosaccharide (C6H12O6), of which is a "hexose" sugar because it has 6 carbons, ie C6.
Maltose is a disaccharise which hydrolysis with H20 ---> into 2 glucoses.
Unused glucose (energy) is stored as glycogen, in both the liver and muscles.Last edited by cascade; 01-19-2004 at 02:38 AM.
