    Nutrient Database

Does anyone have a good nutrient database that is easy to follow, for finding nutrients for say like "1 egg" and things like that, thanks.

Not sure how much macronutrients some items have.

    Thanks.

www.fitday.com is fcuking awesome...you can customize your own items such as protein shakes or RTD supplements, plus you can search out just about any food cooked in any way possible...also if you can find this software my girlfriend got with a nutrition book called Total Diet Assessment I checked out the properties on it and the number to reach them is 1800-659-ESHA and it's made by John Wiley and Son's Inc. www.wiley.com Hopefully that info. can get you the software without buying the nutrition book

Also, fitday.com now has software you can download for $20...it looks pretty good. check it out on their website. I think having some kind of software is extremely helpful. I would waste so much time going through a website and waiting for each page to load up as I add stuff in and it recalculates serving sizes...I love my diet assessment. Takes me 2 seconds to put in my intake, I can change things around throughout the day without having to get online, and it gives me values for every macro and micronutrient in existence, as well as ratios, and bar graphs denoting what percentage of the requirement for each nutrient I've consumed. So, I can tell if I'm getting enough iron or folate ( I know most people don't really care about these things, but I like to know)...also, the database is more accurate than food labels, because it calculates grams of macronutrients to two decimal points. So you actually see the .3g of carb that's in an egg yolk.

Fit day seems pretty cool, but I can't find specific things like "1 whole egg" or "1 egg white"

really? i found them just fine. just put in "egg" or "egg white" in the search field, when the list comes up, click on the option you want, when the nutritional info comes up, you just have to adjust the serving size. it usually starts out with some ridiculous amount, but you can change it to whatever you want.

when using fit day definately utilize the search tool to find you foods..if you go about searching with the categories listed then you will be on the site forever...also i do agree with kim about the diet assesment...unless you have high speed internet fitday can take a while to load each page.

glad to help...i've been counting calories for 2.5 years now and had to use an excel spreadsheet and a calorie book or nutrition labels...these sites keep me like 95% accurate (just gotta measure properly) which makes me feel a lot better about dieting.
