Ah!
Yup, they are dead wrong.
Pro: extra fat helps to protect the joints
Con: high bodyfat - lower testosterone levels
At the end of the day, if you train hard, eat and rest well then you will grow. Just how well you grow is down to your mom, dad and god but you will grow...

Hey vin, go swim with some sharks.
Are you going to listen to my bad advice? No. You know I was wrong saying that, and you knew enough to question their statements. Bro, you know more than you think. But you're right, I'd love to see a special forum just for you.
Keep asking them, they make my day pleasant.

Y,know I,ve read this thread twice and it makes no sense at all
There idiots of course you can build muscle if you are fat why could,nt you? You may not be able to see your results but after cardio and diet the results will begin to show!
Ignore them and give yourself some credit at least you had the savvy to check
A forum just for you? What a an excellant idea

I'm guessing that what they actually meant was that you can't change fat into muscle. You need to burn the fat and turn it into energy and your muscles grow. Maybe those guys actually thought that can directly change fat directly to muscle???

vinh, come on, you know better than that
Vinh,
You know better than that. Papapump was dead on here. Sure, results from lifting will be slower, but the results will be there if one is deligent in their training.( Mentioned by Billy Boy) I think Terniox made a good point though. Maybe they WERE inferring that fat cannot change to muscle as it must be burned, converted to energy so the muscles can grow. (Also mentioned by Terniox)
Damn, am I repeatative or what?

Maybe they meant that you can't SEE the muscles if you are fat.
I always thought that the process of weht lifting is to cause microscopic tears in fat and existing muscle tissue. When your boy repairs the damage your muscles get bigger. So effectiely guys with big muscles have lotts of scar tissue. Is this a wifes tale?
