Protein shake
I usually mix in fruit with my after workout protein shakes as means for replenishing glycogen stores. Is fruit a good source? I assume that the fructose levels are high enough to spike insulin levels considering I don't consume sugar any other time than my protein shake (with the fruit in it). I usually use strawberries(pretty high on the GI charts). Opinions would be great. ~LK

Certain fruits will cause an insulin spike, but they won't replenish muscle glycogen, only liver glycogen, so you're better off with something else...and i don't know where you got your information, but strawberries are actually low on the GI charts. Even atkins-worshippers eat them.

For your pwo shake you want something that will illicit a higher insulin spike than strawberries. If you want keep the strwberries and add some dextrose to your shake. Makes for a pretty good darn tasting post-workout drink. Kinda like strawberries and cream flavor.
