diet for my mother
Alright guys my mother was asking me question on diets and stuff but i know how to gain weight not loose it so i come for your help guys, She is 5'5" i say 225Lbs she is 50 years old guys dont forget that either. She cant really workout do to her spinal problem in her lower back. I mean she cant even walk for too long. So basicly she needs a clean, good, perhaps low calorie, carb diet?

IMO...I'm sure you know what is good and clean...I'd say that would be much better then one of these fad diets people are going crazy for...Even if she can't walk for a long period of time,it might not be a bad idea for you to go with her,or get a treadmill for her. It'd be good to spend extra time with your mother. I know I sure as hell wouldnt want my mother on one of these freak diets they have now..I really think too many people want right now at all costs when they have no clue what they are really doing to themselves.

well you can start by just having her cut out any junk....candy soda too much coffee with cream and sugar, pizza, cookies etc etc....that alone will help...from there try to get her to monitor what she eats...if she can count calories that will help her lose...also you might want to suggest she up her protein...chicken can be made so many different ways in a healthy manner...same with fish...try to get her to eat more vegetables and to stick with low GI whole wheat and grain sources for carbs.,

another thing....my girl read an article stating that even short bursts of exercise are better than nothing...so if she can do something in the house for like 10 minutes or less (jumping jacks maybe) and just do them for a few minutes throughout the day that will help with cardio and not have her doing something that could irratate her back.

i agree that JR is an awesome workout...but he mentioned that his mom has some back problems so i dont know if it would bother her....of course getting a cheap stationary bike would be good (you said she can bike but it's cold) if you look in the paper they are pretty ceap....pop in a movie on TV and the time flies.
