    Chipotle Burritos

Hey guys, here is a question for you....

What do you all think of the burritos from Chipotle? I don't know how wide spread they are, but I know they are in Colorado and California. It's basically "nu mexican". They are huge, and I get them with double chicken, which is grilled, and rice, black beans, guacamole, lettuce, cheese, chili-corn salsa, all rolled up in a tortilla. The thing weighs a couple pounds when they are done. I usually grab one of these things on my way home from work about an hour before going to the gym.

How healthy do you think this thing really is? I always order the double chicken, and they do pile it on, but as far as getting a lot of carbs and some protein, how do you think it stacks up?

There's a place here that serves those huge a$$ed things. I don't eat them, too many carbs for me right now. They don't sound too bad to me if your trying to gain.

Well, having that many carbs AND fat in one meal, is not a very good idea.

Just my opinion, unless it's your cheat day, or you can't gain weight even by eating crisco and white rice.

How about if I get rid of the Guacamole and cheese? That's where most of the fat is coming from I would think... that would leave chicken, rice, black beans, lettuce, and salsa.

When I go to Chipotle, I usually get the soft chicken tacos, because there's still the protein from the chicken there, and there are probably fewer carbs in the three small tortillas than there are with the one huge tortilla that they put the burrito in. At least, that's what I try to keep telling myself
In all honesty, there's a good amount of protein in the burrito you're talking about, but I agree with Swole in that it's probably too much fat and carbs at the same time. If you got the burrito with double meat and without rice, you'd probably be in better shape. But that's much easier said than done, hehe.

They are loaded with carbs. I order the chicken fajita burrito..with NO RICE, added black beans and veggies, NO CHEESE, NO SOUR CREAM, just hotsauce and lettice

I love them and I eat them all the time as a cheat treat meal. The flour tortilla has processed flour which is not a healthy carb...and I don't eat all of the tortilla. It is filling and it tastes great.

You can even get them w/o the tortilla.

    love the burrito

yep, we have Chipotles here in DC (actually a chain owned by McDonalds - i think). Love the burritos, great for bulking.

We also have Baja Fresh which has the Dos Manos (Two Hands). That thing is huge. I can slam one of them down after a work out. Yum!

I love both Chipotle and Baja Fresh - seriously...if either were really near to me, i think i'd have a problem. As it is, it's a 30-45min trip, so it becomes once a month or something like that...

Like everyone seems to have said - it's fine for bulking IMO...but no good if you're cutting etc.

even when bulking the type of carbs from a processed tortilla isnt exactly the healthiest type of carb....cheating yes i suppose, but any white refined carbs are a big no no for me...even when bulking.

Chipotle burritos are the single greatest food in the entire universe. If I only earned a percentage each time I ate one, I'd be a very rich man.
In Minnesota, there is another place called Qdoba that is very similar to Chipotle. Last time I checked, you could go to their website and "create" a burrito. They will then show you how much fat, calories, etc. it has. www.qdoba.com

I agree with the whole refined carb tortilla thing...but if you add beans and vegetables, the fiber is going to slow down the digestion anyway, so I would think it wouldn't be too too bad for bulking if you cut out the high-fat ingredients.

I agree with the tortilla bit as your man said, BUT I still wouldn't use a mixture of fats/carbs if i was bulking or cutting for a meal. It wouldn't yield results anyone would call potable.

I agree... hence the "if you cut out the high-fat ingredients" part.

    double chicken
    lettuce
    mild salsa
