Question about R-ALA & Body Temperature

I am just curious... does R-ALA raise body temperature? It seems like everytime I take it I get really hot.... I sweat more etc. Is this normal?

U know what's funny is that recently I've been taking MUCH more in going to Vegas, having a mild pre-bulk cheat fest..........okay, not so mild...........but anyhow, I'm hotter than ****. I even asked the doc the other day why the F I'm so hot all the time.........Coincidence? Dunno.........interesting though.

LOL yea the R-ALA is my life saver on cheat days lol.... I took 4 today w/ Biotin each time and I feel like I am burning up right now. It's horrible, almost like I have a fever. I think I am going to go take my temperature and see if it is up at all.

Interesting. What you might be feeling is the response to the R-ALA dropping your blood glucose level. When hypoglycemia (which is not the correct word for what R-ALA does, but as an example) sets in, users tend to feel cold, and get shivers. There don't seem to be any properties that I know of in the optically active enantiomer that would do that. Everyone responds differently, so it can be dependent on that as well. My guess would be that it is coincidental, as I don't know what scientifically could bring about an increase in body temperature, but of course we'd have to hear from Macro or Ulter on it.

How many R-ALA is too much to take in a day? I usually take 4 on carb up days... and on Regular days I take 2. One with PWO and PPWO Meal.

OK, the general guideline should be one Glucorell-R for every 30 grams of carbs. I wouldn't take the R-ALA with the PWO shake, as my goal there is to spike my insulin , not keep it steady. The amount of R-ALA doesn't matter as long as you don't overkill.

I was told by half the guys on the board including Swole to use R-ALA w/ PWO Shake. ??? It seems to be working fine doing it this way as I am stil gaining plenty of muscle, but who knows lol... I swear this stuff can exhaust my brain sometimes

Yeah, it's tricky. It's my personal preference, do what works for you. Just remember if you are taking it with fast acting sugars like those in your shake to get that R-ALA in about 10-15 minutes before your shake.

I agree w/Rambo that you want the spike from the PWO1, that is why I tell my clients to take the R-ALA WITH the PWO shake, in order to allow your body to still have that spike, but you then have the R-ALA circulating in the blood after the spike to help and clear the blood of excess sugars and "sweep up" before the pwo meal 2. Taking it with the shake won't blunt the insulin response, as the dextrose hits your system long before the R-ALA can supress any surge, but it then goes into you blood w/the other nutrients to help shuttle the aminos/sugars into the muscle cells to encourage glycogen storage and muscle growth preparation.

As Rambo said, do what works for you though.

That is actually what I am doing right now... I take it with my shake, not before. So I guess I was doing it right then lol

I agree. I was asking a friend of mine who is fairly knowledgeable about this and he thought maybe the heat sensation had to do with the large amount of R-ALA in the body and it's process in carb. processing.
