    Fat in Natty PB

I was wondering how much fat you are cutting out by pouring off the oil layer on top of natty PB. I'm all for getting in a good amount of omega 3's but I get them elsewhere, so I don't need all that fat in my PB.

It probably differs from product to product but an overall estimate would be helpful.

well i would say that there are about 2 tablespoons of pure oil sitting on top so around 25 gms of fat from the container.

That's a pretty good estimate. I'm gonna' measure my next jar to know for certain. I pour off all the oil into a seperate jar and add it to shakes occasionally, instead of flax for a tasty change of pace.

    Thanks!!!

I use natty PB to curb cravings for bad food choices. A tablespoon does wonders for my pallet and my mind. (It works for me, you know!!!) I get plenty of EFA's throughout the day (ie. flax, udo's, almonds, etc...). Eating full fat PB seems counterproductive, especially since, in essence I'm using it as a "cheat food." Dumping some of the fat keeps me closer to my macro requirements for the day.

dont pour out that oil, its the whole reason you are eating pb, for the efa's.. plus, id like to see you try and stir that peanut butter up after no oil is left in it, good luck.

    peanutbutter facts!

When buying peanut butter, only buy organic varieties.

Non-organic peanut butters are high in pesticides and fungus and contain aflatoxin, a potent carcinogenic mold.

To increase the protein in peanut butter (peanuts have about the same amount of protein as soy), Brewer’s yeast can be mixed in. This is especially useful for vegetarians.

The nutritional info on the side of the jar is WITH the oil you are pouring off. So after you pour it off, it of course differs, but you probably already know that.

Trying to stir/spread/utilize the rock sculpture you'll now have in your container should you drain the oil out and not mix it up, is going to really work the forearms and your patience!
