    Genetic Defects with HRT?

Hi I was wondering if anyone has any information reagarding sperm quality on people who have been on HRT for a while

I realize your sperm count will be well below normal and there are drugs out there to stimulate sperm count.....but are there any studies that show that steroids can defect the sperm in any way that can that could possibly bring about abnormalities in future children due to the intake of steroids???

Could the sperm be defected in anyway???....and is there any info out there on pple who have had children after being on HRT??

I know that AASs inhibit spermatogenesis and hCG administration increases it. There have been studies showing that while hCG increases spermatogenesis but the sperm is not as "healthy" and may be abnormal. Not sure how this would effect your offspring, but it can't be good.

It's not a matter of whether 'the sperm' is healthy. You have at least seven semi-different varieties of sperm in the typical male ejaculate. Some are there to break the membrane of the ovum; some to send of pheromone homing signals; some to block the tubes from sperm from other males; some to impregnate; and so forth. They are the same sperm with different proclivities, and if their metabolism is altered, it alters the whole dynamics of the impregnation process. If the membrane breaking sperm are weakened, then your genetic carriers never his their mark. If the blockers are weakened, then other males may supplant your sperm (you hope this isn't a problem if you are married). And so forth.

The effects of drugs are not just on quantity and quality of sperm -- they alter an entire ecosystem necessary for impregnation.

actually, if the sperm has a lot of problems the body will naturally abort the fetus. there are tons of check points in reproduction, if things aren't right the body knows it. if you are trying to have a baby I would lay off of it for awhile, you are more likely to just not be able to conceive.
