    Testosterone lab results help

Well my Md called me on Wednesday saying she was referring me to the endo due to having a low test levels:

    Component Results
Component Your Value Standard Range Flag
    Total Testosterone 205
    Reference range: 250 to 1100
    Unit: ng/dL
Total Testosterone was measured by LCMSMS. The LCMSMS method
correlates well with our extraction/RIA method. L

    % Free Testosterone 2.45
    Reference range: 1.5 to 2.2
    Unit: % H

    Free Testosterone 50.2
    Reference range: 35.0 to 155.0
    Unit: pg/mL

I spoke with her today and the endo md called her back and said I was fine. She said "my free testosterone is fine and that with weight loss I will be okay. No appt needed." I don't understand this as I have the symptoms of low test. I wiegh 205 and height is 5'6". I trust my general md but curious on the endos response. I had all the labs possible due to an increase in depression/anxiety recently. Any input, my vitamin d was also low but now supplementing this

thank you, I am lost as to how 205 can be okay at 32y/o

This my friend is another example of epic failure with the medical professionals that you're counting on to make the decisions for your health and life. This is also another example of why the anti-aging clinics are laughing all the way to the bank.

Your free test is just the amount of bio-available testosterone that is unbound and able to be used. Usually anything over 4% would be considered above normal. Your free score is probably just about average with most other guys. However, it doesn't mean anything if there isn't a pool of testosterone to draw from. At 205, your well is about empty as far as scores go for men. They should be sued for their negligence! (rant) Either put up with this nonsense or dump them and find a specialist who will help get you feeling normal again.

it took me forever to figure out you should only look at free as a % of total so if your total is low the free is going to be low no matter what.

you should be on trt with your levels and symptoms

jda, Vetteman speaks the truth! Find a different doc for your health. You are very low and should be treated to get back to 'normal'. I was referred to an endo who made me feel like she was doing me a huge favour by throwing a packet of gel my way when I tested 241 or so. Of course, my Estradiol/E2 was very high but she didn't even want to test for it until I insisted. I had all the symptoms of low Test and high E2 but she was just going by the numbers of the total testosterone and free. My free was actually quite high so she was thinking about not even giving me gel. Of course, she had no explanation for why this would occur or what we could do about it...
