Nolva instead of AI during HRT

As the regulars here have read, I am one of those unfortunate few who gets gyno at low E2 levels. As it stands, I need to keep my E2 at or below 25. This makes for a very narrow window to keep my E2 since I also want it higher for the E2 benefits.

I have had a very hard time keeping within the narrow zone using an AI. I hit it for a couple weeks, something changes and I get out of whack. It simply is too hard and there are too many variables to keep my E2 in the narrow range. So I am considering Nolva for longterm use and doing away with the AI (my E2 is about 30 with no AI) or just use very low dose AI to keep in down a little.

Does anyone here use Nolva instead of or with AI and can you share your experiences? I assume 10 mg/day is the dosage for longterm, but since I am doing HRT and not cycles can or should I do less? What does are you doing on HRT? Have you experienced any longterm issues from Nolva?

I have no experience with this, but what I have read is that you have to keep in mind that a SERM like nolva does nothing to lower estrogen levels. It works by binding to the receptor with a blocking action (the more bound sites, the less for the estrogen floating around in your body to bind to). An AI works on the aromatase enzyme by blocking the conversion of testosterone into estrogen and will actually lower estrogen levels in the blood. So one could use nolva to prevent gyno (due to its blocking action in breast tissue). But keep in mind that nolva will do nothing to lower estrogen, so if you get lots of bloat or symptoms of high estrogen (fatigue) other than the gyno, you probably need to stick to the AI.

Nolva is much safer to use than an AI like Arimidex . 10mg of Nolva should be enough, if not then just bump it to 20mg.

And again, the post above is correct. Don't expect Nolvadex to lower your estrogen levels, but do expect results helping your gyno symptoms.

Bloat comes from high E2. So nolva will not help with any bloat issues.

Nolva will combat bloat. Bodybuilders take it before shows becuase it drops bloat really fast compared to arimidex . It does everything an ai should do except actually lower estro it just keeps ur estrogen floating around and not doing anything

For anyone interested, I tried Nolva instead of an AI for my gyno. 10 mg / day to start. Later dropped to 10 mg EOD. It was great at stopping the gyno, but it stopped a lot of other stuff too!

    5. Joints got some soreness just like with an AI
    4. Bloating was not decreased (didn't expect it to but wanted to respond to bogdan's question; not sure why trix thinks it would. maybe it does for other's but not me. i bloated right up after stopping AI and doing nolva)
    3. Energy levels decreased just like with an AI
    2. I was really irritable.
    1. And the number 1 annoying side: I lost my libido!!!

So now I'm off the stuff but it has a half life of 7-14 days. It will take weeks to get out of my system. My wife is bumming, not that I get any sympathy or a break. She still wants sex twice a day.

That is my results, your results may vary.

Nice to see someone follows up on post so we have some type of conclusion or at least more information instead of only questions. Thanks for the follow up and sorry to hear it didnt work quite like you wanted except for it did keep the gyno at bay.

How is the diet? Most bloat is due to salt intake to high and not enough water IMO but I'm no expert.

The diet is good, although that was a possible factor of the bloat because I travelled during one week of my experiment. Eating every meal out is murder on the body. But I had bloat before travelling and my diet was good then. The bloat was worse by the time I got home from travelling and I knew the additional bloat was diet related.

My cheeks puff and hallow with my E2 levels quite nicely. My cheeks started puffing some as soon as I stopped the AI and switched to Nolva. I am confident that in my case Nolva did nothing or very little to reduce bloat. Maybe the bloat wasn't as much as if I had not been taking Nolva, but it definately was not nearly as good at reducing bloat as my AI was.

you are so wrong man that you should not be allowed to post in here. have high estrogen "floating" around is a teriible idea, 1 reason off the top off my head, in the long run it may give you cancer.

NO, det-oak nolva decreases water retention just because you were prolly to fat to notice it, bodybuilders have been taking it for years combined with proviron before shows to achieve the hard dry feeling...... just do a quick google of "nolva water retention". So you shouldnt just be posting your made up bullshit

Nolva DOES NOT decrease water retention....................................your thoughts on proviron are also not on point, it has never been proven to decrease estrogen. sorry. its sounds to me like you are putting way too much faith in your google searches.........................taking nolva while on TRT is very silly.

not to mention that nolva actually increases PGR and estro receptor temporarily, in the pectoral region, in most men, for a short time during intitial treatment. so if you ask me its one of the last things you want to be taking "before a show"

if there is ANY decreased water retention it is due to the fact that it will eventually down regulate estro receptor and PGR. or from negative feedback but i have my doubts, bottomline, nolva for that use, water retention, is a very outdated protocol....................there are much better choices, which is kind of the point I was trying to make.

and then there is this too, in regards to TRT

my posts kind of got off track, one of the reason's is because this post already says it all, and i can give a logical explaination for all these symtoms.
