    Weird Results

First off I have a couple of buddies who are on HRT for low testosterone and over some beers they started talking about all the symptoms and it shocked me to see that I suffer from basically all the same symptoms (tiredness, feeling depressed, soft erection etc. i even have night sweats sometimes)

When I was an infant i had a strangulated left testicle which required surgery. I guess they saved it but its only about half the size of my right testicle. When I was about 8 I had a hydrocele on my right testicle.

So I thought that this could have a bearing on my testosterone level. I went to a lab and had them tested. I came out with 295 total (normal range 250-1200) and 78 (normal being 50-130) free. Being 25 years old this shocked me.

I dont have a GP so I went to a doctor one of my buddies goes to. He checked me out and started to act like he was in favor of putting me on test until he called a urologist with me sitting there. The urologist said he wouldnt recommend doing it and said since I had a normal free level that I have nothing to worry about and recommended putting me on viagra and an antidepressent.

So my question is is having a low level of total and moderate to high level of free normal? I feel like im getting jipped for being young whenever my level should be twice to three times this level. I feel like if i was 40 or so there would be no questions asked.

Should I go to another doctor?

always get 2nd and 3rd opinions....

i'm not sure if the verdict is out on if free test is fine and total is low then the patient is hormonally sufficient.....i've always considered both important and also symptoms ofcourse

but absolutely always get several dr.'s opinions...more bloodwork as well! e2, prolactin, igf, dhea, thyroid(tsh, t3/t4)......

What concerns me is that you are 25 years old and being in the bottom quartile suggests something is wrong with you. You present symptoms and at this level I know without question my Doc would have you a on a complete protocol...right quick.

Do you really have to ask?

man im really mad at my parents for not keeping my records and acting like it never happened (not ever talking about it with me growing up). first they said it was an undescended testicle and then my dad said it was a strangulated testicle. All i know is i have a scar and its half the size of my right nut. lol

what hurts my body image more is i have scars on both sides and it forms a v.

so the friends doctor left you hanging cuz the uro he called said he would do NOTHING????????? oh, i forgot, viagra AND anti depressant?

first step is to decide (you and your doctor(friends doctor) yours now as well) if you two are going to do more bloodwork because you are not satisfied with just viagra and WHERE THE FVCK DID ANTI DEPRESSANT COME FROM...and you can also interview/look into anti aging clinics like you mentioned AS WELL ...mind you, not sure if you are insured, wealthy, etc. but the clinics usually get cashola and insurance doesnt come into play...

    best of luck

p.s. but u should have at least wiped that bastard out of viagra samples while you were there?

well i was scared about viagra. i've never taken it and felt like i would be a laughing stock if it became known being 25. I was also getting mad because instead of treating the problem they wanted to treat the symptoms. So I declined both. The antidepressent came in because I told him i was feeling depressed/lethargic. He said all that matters is the free test and since that was normal not to worry about it.

He did order more lab work for my thyroid and also wants to retest my test in 3 months.

I looked up some endocrinologists and am unsure if I just need to go that route. There is a wellness clinic around where I live that does HRT so I dont know if that would be covered by insurance or not.

i see...at least he's following up and running more bloods...

doubt the hrt/wellness clinic will take insurance and if you need them to /need to use insurance i would let this guy follow up but be seeing one of these endos...its hard to find treatment at your age especially

crisler followers: what is the good doc's view on free test being the only important factor and also his view on guys under 30 with similar symptoms/levels?

Crisler like to see all 3 Test panels J on initial BW: Total, Bio and Free. Once on a TRT protocol Total is less important to him (as well as my Doc, a renowned TRT Physician) as Bio-Available and/or Percent Free are true indicators. Total Test gives us a broad view of things but doesn't tell us what is biologically available for use.

He sees guys under 30 especially if they have a history like the OP had with his testicle and subsequent surgery.

Actually THEY asked me if I had insurance before they would tell me if he was taking patients. Once I told the chick all the surgeries I had and stuff she told me her son had some of the same things happen and that I will love this doctor and am in GREAT hands and he WILL help me. I'm pumped!

So I went to the second doctor. Same as the first said that my free testosterone is all that matters. He thinks other things are going on. He's getting blood work for my thyroid and metabolic panel as well as CBC. He said he has a gut feeling that I have sleep apnea because I have fatigue. I would like a definitive answer on the total vs free. Any information on that would be awesome. I'm sorry but a level at 295 being 25 years old does not seem normal.

Also my blood pressure was at 139/101. So thats kind of alarming. My brother had a heart attack at 27, so he's worried about that.
