Calling on Bass...

Bass, I directed this toward you because in another thread you indicated you hit and injected or atleast partially into a vein, (anybody else please respond as well). I recall you said really bad cough, dizzy, a litle nausea? My question is did these symptoms occur immediately, or did they take 20-30 seconds??? Reason I ask is I have difficulty aspirating, which I am working on but if these symptoms hit immediately it seems prudent to inject say 20-30% percent of T and pause for 15-20 seconds just as another layer of pre-caution.
Sure I'm over engienering this, but would seem to make sense if the symptoms strike immediately?? Thanks

Short version, the clinic I started with (no longer with) never taught me to aspirate . I always poked and injected, never had a problem as of yet. however, read about sciatic nerve and also hitting a vein and injecting directly into it can be very harmful. I have a hard enough time injecting IM, turning around and pulling the plunger back and not moving at all. In a previous thread I read of people that had side effects from injecting in the vein, just wanted to know if they were felt immediately or if it took some time 30 seconds or so. the difficulty is its new to me and I seem to pull back just a litle as Im checking which is prob defeating the purpose.

Assuming you are hitting the glutes: You should be able to slightly twist, look in the mirror, and pull the plunger back with one hand. Don't worry about the second that the syringe might hang in the air while you shift your grip. Don't worry about spinning the syringe to get the grip right. Just pull back until you see a little air bubble (and don't worry about air in the syringe). You can aspirate , see no blood and still end up getting some in the blood stream. These things happen.

I am not sure that your plan will help. The one time I got the cough it hit quickly. I definitely didn't have my injection done. I tasted it in the back of my throat, knew what was going to happen, pulled the syringe out and waited for the coughing. When I was done hacking, I changed needles and finished the injection.

Bullshark when I inject in glutes the pin moves a little when I'm aspirating but I don't worry about. It never cases any pain or anything. Also do u inject in ur quads? If so there wouldent be any issues aspirating. Just some suggestions to try.

Maybe Bass or other members might help out more.

Just switch to your quads. I've put every single injection into my quads so far.

MUCH easier to see what you are doing and where you are doing it. Also much, much, much easier to aspirate .

25 gauge needle should be fairly painless. I'm actually using 27's right now but they seem about the same as the 25's IMHO......just slower.

ALWAYS aspirate , never assume because you are in a certain location that you dont need to aspirate, you could end up in huge trouble

where you end up pinning most of the time is going to depend on your preference. i go quads and delts only, nice and easy

I hit delts and quads. Both easy to see what it going on. Both easy to aspirate - especially quads because you can use two hands.

sorry for coming in late! everything JV said but i didn't pull out, just finished the injection. probably not smart! yes the effects were almost immediately as JV noted. believe it or not, my clinic said not to bather with aspiration! also depends on the amount you're injecting, if you are injecting 120 MIGs you may not be at risk even if you hit a vein, you may cough and drool but you won't pass out. if you are injecting 300 or so then you need to aspirate and make sure. just my opinion.

All great advice guys, thank you! the quad is intriuging to me, Fred said 25G, what is the length, still inch and a half?? Sorry for my ignorance, purely inexperience but where in the Quad? i agree it would be MUCH easier, I dont mind if there is additional pain, just need to know how long of a pin and exactly where.

I agree with what was stated above. Always aspirate . Even with aspiration: There have been times when I have hit/nicked a vein every third injection. Strange feeling in the back of the throat, followed by a coughing fit. stop injection, switch to a new needle and start in a new location. I usually felt like shit for 24hrs after the injection. Sometimes it hit me during the injection, and other times it felt less acute but started after I was finished.
You will know know it when it happens. Part of the task.
