    Water weight and TRT

I have just begun TRT and this site has been of great help. I am on the "classic" 200mg test cyp eow. I will be getting my second injection this coming week.

This question is going to be more of a survey/share experience type. I am curious as to:
    1. How many of you experience the water weight gain?
    2. How far into TRT did you experience it?3. What was the fix? I'm assuming just getting E2 levels in range?

Generally, water retention = elevated E2.

BTW, 200 mg EOW is not classic...think half life.

Post your blood work before starting with ranges.

I have already done so. This thread was not meant to dissect my protocol it is meant to discuss water retention experience. From the threads I have read it seems most non expert physician's prescribing trt for patients go with the 200 mg eow protocol. The half life of testosterone cypionate is 7-8 days. I find the reason physician's follow eow is because of that. They do not realize it would be more optimal to cut the dose in half and follow a weekly injection to maintain testosterone levels higher and more stable. They follow the half life and administer it eow because that's how half life and medication works.

I see your point; discuss injecting at home...you can take if from there.

Water retention could be for a number of reasons but with TRT points to possibly elevated E2.

I don't remember your BW post; did you get an E2 sensitive assay done before starting your protocol?

Yes sir I had to request it. I go in on Monday and I'll update my original thread with the numbers. I understand it's hard to remember so many users blood work. I am just asking what you guys go through so I can fix it if and when it occurs to me.

I'm going to try and take a fight later this year so I'm going to start trying to mean out and well as I'm sure you know water could put me in a different weight class if I can't get it under control.

I went from 217 pounds to 244 pounds in 8 weeks, at 200mg per 7 days, enough said, and its not muscles, lots of it was water and fat until i added my own AI.

Make sure your medical doctor knows what he is doing, not like mine who is a total moron.

Who told me that on testosterone i could eat anything i want and i would only gain 15-20 pounds of muscles in 6 months.

Who told me that testosterone is an excellent fat burner, and will produce huge amount of collagen in my body.

Who told me that at 200mg per week since i am a big guy i would not need an AI, worst the pharmacy where i got my scrip the women told me the same thing.

    Pathetic.

Yes, seeing water retention is common, it's probably happened to most of us on here. There really is no specific time frame when it starts. People might start seeing it a few weeks into their protocol, a few months, 6 months ... When I first started HRT, I think I was seeing the bloats after 3 weeks. Controlling your E2 is obviously a major variable. I would also say that minimizing your sodium intake and drinking a lot of water throughout the day can help with this.

I know you weren't necessarily looking for a protocol critique, but GD's observation of the 200mg/eow does play a role in resolving your other issue. You would be able to manage the aromatization process more effectively by administering less testosterone more frequently. If you could even go 1x week, you could take your AI, administering it 2x/wk. Take it approx. 24 hours after your test injection, then 3.5 days thereafter. I think you will see better results if you can give it a try.

And yes, it would be good to see your current E2 score so that you can determine the proper dosage level for your AI.

Thanks for the info my friends. I will try to convince the doctor to switch to a weekly injection at half the dose in the future. I don't get a script. For now I get the injection there at the office. I'm assuming she is worried about people "abusing" if she were to dispense it. I will let you guys know my numbers are in my original post sometime this week.

200 mg eow is pretty classic, but it's also outdated . if you drop to 100mg per week you will likely feel better and possibly experience less side effects such as water retention.

consider this, when you take 200mg at once your T levels go well into the supraphysiologic range and then 10-13 days later you are likely to be below where you started. This is why the newer recommendations are touting shorted durations between shots.

Yeah man, that's what I'm gonna have to convince this physician about.

I have nothing readily on hand, but there IS good research from respected medical texts regarding dosing T cypionate . Bring those with you for sure.
