    Looking for input

    This is my first post

    About me, I'm almost 61 years old, stand about 5'9, 201lbs, I have been working out for more than a year now after a long hiatus. I have lifted continually from my late teens through my mid-forties and powerlifted for years and have won a number of state and regional titles. I've never used AAS and tried to lift in tested orgs but that never stopped me from competing in other orgs. My recovery isn't what it used to be and I'm certain T production also is not what it used to be, so I been reading up on this subject on this and other forums and have just received the results of the BW I had done last week and this is what I received;

    Testo Total 751ng/dl Range 250-1100
    Testo Free 73.6 Range 35.0-155 pg/mL

    PSA Total .93 ng/mL Range .00-4.00

    The Dr just sent me a letter with the results, nothing else, so I'm assuming that based upon what she saw, she's ruled me out as a candidate, what do you guys think?

    Honestly that's quite an impressive T level for your age. Many guys decades younger aren't close to it. As impressive as your total T level is though what is more important is your Free T level as this is what works for us. Naturally we'd like to see your FT at the top of the range or close to it.

    There are a few things you can try to improve your FT level but the results will not be dramatic. Optimizing your Vit D level will reduce your SHBG level (SHBG transports your hormones and also binds them) somewhat and thus allow more free T. Most all in N. America are low in Vit D if they don't supplement. If you do implement this please do so based on blood work as it's a fat soluble hormone. Most all can easily get by with about 5K iu's per day, imho.

    Stinging Nettle / Avenacosides may have some impact as well. How much is anyones guess.

    To your question directly, no, you are not a TRT candidate at this time.

    Like Kel said, pretty impressive numbers, I'd kill for those numbers (without TRT).

    He also provided good advice regarding the Vit D3. Most people in the developed world are deficient to some degree. You might want to get it tested. Low D3 is linked to high SHBG, which can raise your Total T but lower your Free T (the important number). If you are deficient, I'd start with 4,000 to 5,000 IU per day. Personally, I like to split all my supplements into AM and PM dosing, so I do 2,000 IU twice daily and that keeps my levels in a good range.

    PSA is great. Stay on top of the number with annual testing. If that doesn't go up, there's no need for the digital exam.

    Thanks for the input guys, I'm kinda bummed as I thought for sure I'd be a good candidate for TRT. I will heed your advice and supplement the Vit D and research the Stinging Nettle / Avenacosides
