What do I need for a BG monitor?

Why are some of them like $100 and others (store name brand it seems) are like $15-20

After I get the monitor what else do I need? like strips, etc?

You'll need lancets, strips and a glucometer. The price difference is usually if they come with strips or not, the strips are what cost you...most companies will give you a free glucometer with the purchase of 100 strips, ask your pharmacist.

Ah I see, how much cash does this usualy come out to minus a bottle of Humalog.

I bought a $30.00 monitor. I forget the name but it's pretty common in pharmacies. It works great for what I need it for. No need to go crazy on the monitor. You won't be using it as much as a diebetic would. Matter of fact the test strips cost more than the monitor itself.
