    Is my humalog still good?

I got my slin about two months ago and I've been using it on/off....
The expiry date on the bottle is AL 2006. I've been keeping it in the fridge the whole time. Lately I've noticed a lot of air bubbles in the vial. Why do most people say to throw it out after 1 month, when the exp. date on my bottle is 2006? Should I keep using it or get a new bottle?

The bubbles is normal. In time they will dissapear if bottle is kept still. People usually get another bottle after 1 month of use because insulin is easy to get and it's cheap. Your slin is as good as the slin at the chemist. Keep it and use it.

If kept in the fridge, you can use it untill it expires. It should have an expiry date on the bottle. As I said, people only use it for 1 month then throw it out because it's so easy to get and it's cheap. However, this is far from necessary.

It's hard to excatly answer that bro. But I do know that slin is still effective if out of the fridge as long as it's kept at room temperature. A friend of mine had his insulin stored in a draw for about 4 months, he claimed it was as good as when it was refridgirated. Idealy, you would want to keep it in the fridge just to be safe, but i have no doubt about insulin not working if kept at room temp. It probably wouldn't last as long as it would if it was in the fridge though, doesn't mean it's not effective.

Keeping it in the 'fridge will lower the risk of bacteria growing in the vial.

Thanks guys going to pick a new bottle of slin this week and will store it the fridge. Kept the last bottle in my training bag for about 3 months and after I took my PWO shot, if I was late for my next meal I could feel myself going into hypo so I figured it was still good. But as said its so cheap so I willl just get new bottle and store in the fridge.

Thanks for the info on bacteria growing in the vial thats news to me.
    Respect
