    HGH Injections

Facts About Synthetic Human Growth Hormone Injections

The medical term for human growth hormone is Somatotropin.

Up until the mid 1980's real human growth hormone was obtained from the pituitary glands of cadavers obtained mostly from Africa. The HGH injections were given to children with stunted growth.

In the mid 1980's real cadaver human growth hormone was taken off the market after it was found to cause a rare disease called Creutzfeld-Jakob disease in the children who were taking it.

In 1985 the Eli Lily pharmaceutical company managed to synthetically produce human growth hormone, an exact copy, DNA for DNA, in their lab. Since then the only human growth hormone available for injection has been recombinant (synthetic) HGH.

The FDA approved HGH for use in adults in 1996, before 1996 HGH injections were only available to children with a pituitary deficiency.

Synthetic human growth hormone is still one of the most expensive drugs. The cost of human growth hormone injection therapy usually ranges between $800 and $3,000 per month.

Human Growth Hormone for Injection is a powder that must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water just prior to injection. It must be refrigerated and remains stable for only a short time after reconstitution.

Human Growth Hormone for Injection cannot be absorbed through the stomach or by any oral means such as using tablets, capsules, or powders due to the fact that HGH is destroyed by the enzymes in the stomach.

Human Growth Hormone for Injection cannot be absorbed by sublingual means (under the tongue) or in the mouth due to the fact that the HGH molecule itself is much too large to be absorbed intact via the mucosa of the mouth. There is no molecule delivery system that will allow the HGH molecule to be absorbed under the tongue or in the mouth. (A homeopathic HGH formula can be absorbed sublingually)

Anyone taking HGH injections should be monitored closely by a qualified anti-aging physician due to the risks involved with HGH injection therapy.

Anyone who obtains and administers HGH injections to themselves or others without first obtaining a legitimate prescription from a licensed physician is risking their health, and is also breaking the law.

The leading anti-aging physicians recommend first trying to raise the HGH made by the body's own pituitary gland by using HGH releasers, which are non-injection products that help the pituitary gland to release more of its own human growth hormone. They recommend the HGH injections as the last resort. (See the books written by the authorities on HGH).

Those who have tried high quality non-injection HGH supplements, yet continue to have a low plasma IGF-1 level may wish to consider replacement of their human growth hormone using synthetic HGH injections.

    HGH Injection Dosages

Since giving synthetic human growth hormone injections to adults is still considered new, the exact recommended dosages have not been determined. The amount of synthetic HGH used by Dr. Daniel Rudman in his 1990 study, 16.5 IU (international units) divided into 3 doses per week, is considered too much by many, due to the side effects seen.

The latest studies suggest that benefits can be obtained while lowering the risk for side effects by giving smaller, more frequent doses. Doses of 4-8 IU per week are divided into 2 doses per day for 6 days a week. Patients are taught to give themselves a subcutaneous injection upon arising in the morning and at bedtime. No injections are taken on the 7th day.

The proper dose of HGH injection should be individualized, depending on the age and condition of the patient. Qualified physicians begin with low doses and slowly increase the patient's dosage over time if needed.

It should be noted that usually the older the patient, the more sensitive they are to human growth hormone, so older patients may require less HGH injection than younger patients.

Some authorities believe that dosages of over 2 IU per day will cause side effects.
