    insulin: why only 4 weeks?

    Hi,

Why is it insulin ony recommended to be used 4 weeks on/4 weeks off?

I have seen people take insulin for over 10 weeks without cycling it off.

What could happen if you go over 4 weeks on slin? Is it that you will be wasting your time and money because after 4 weeks the effects will be limited? or are there any other significant reasons?

    Any info would be great

    Thanks

You don't want you body to be accustomed to all of that slin at one time. After doing it for 10 weeks or however long, the body may become dependent on it. Hence, diabetic.

    Thanks for your reply.

    How probable would that be?

I'm sure you're asking b/c you might want to give it a shot. I hope not though.

I dont know the facts but I'm sure there's a range not just a specific time that you will be dependent. I'm friends with someone that was runnin it for about 2 months straight and became diabetic. He was in his 50's so it may have been from his age as well as the Slin.

The pancrease produces insulin on it's own. When you inject it, your pancrease does not need to produce it as much. Too much and it does not need to produce it at all. To long and it may never produce it again.

    Thanks fellas for the reply.

I have always read that you should be on insulin 4 weeks on 4 weeks off, but it is also true that I know people who have been on it for a lot longer than that without any health issues.

If it was safe, I would maybe do it, but obviously, I won't simply because I don't want to become diabetics. I mostly wanted to know what the chance from been on slin for 10 weeks or over would be to become diabetics.

    Regards

I ran 10IU's for 12 weeks 7 years ago and didn't become diabetic. Ran it for 2 months back in march. Everyone is different. Most play it safe. Up to you.
